TOP SECRET: 3* Las Vegas (Strip West) Holiday Inn Express I-215

Dates of search are 4/28 to 5/1 (flexibility is semi-flex because I need to be in Vegas the 29th and presumably it would be a lot better to get a good night's rest on the 28 rather than drive in and go to work right away.

Probably will be tired after work to do check in and will want the room ready at the time on that date.

(Boulder is too far btw) (Farthest I'd go is the 'I' area on Hotwire) / Las Vegas Strip Vicinity South

I don't need a shuttle/casino/pool/gym/suite just something not too cramped, somewhat okay (I'd settle for even a Best Western/La Quinta/Holiday Inn if it was in town.) But no Howard Johnson, Super 8, Motel 6, Days Inn kind of place and never those seedy ones in North Las Vegas

Not a fan of Downtown either. Parking is a pain and I would only stay on the Freemont hotels, all the others seem really gross from the outside..

(But I ---don't--- want the 2* Super 8 at $41 (Near Strip East)

nor the 2* Days Inn at $35 (presumed guess) (Near Strip West)

and I'm not feeling good about the Microtel 2* Suite for $40 (Near Strip South)

(small and cramped even for a suite.) (want something a little nicer.) (or if not nicer at least a little more in town)

Rejected bids:

3* hotel bids------------------------

$75 (actually a $62 bid because I have a gift cert of 13.33/nt) (would never bid the much normally)

3.5* hotel bids------------------------

$34 Las Vegas Strip Vicinity South

$39 Las Vegas Airport (LAS)

Las Vegas Convention Center

Las Vegas Strip Vicinity North - Condo

Las Vegas Strip Vicinity South

Near Las Vegas Strip East

$43 Las Vegas Airport (LAS)

Las Vegas Convention Center

Las Vegas Strip Vicinity North - Condo

Las Vegas Strip Vicinity South

Near Las Vegas Strip East

$51 Las Vegas Strip Vicinity North - Condo

Las Vegas Strip Vicinity South

Near Las Vegas Strip East

$52 Not willing to spend more than this per night as I see a $47 per night at Hotwire for 2.5*

Las Vegas Airport (LAS)

Las Vegas Convention Center

Las Vegas Strip Vicinity North - Condo

Las Vegas Strip Vicinity South

Near Las Vegas Strip East

$75 Near Las Vegas Strip East (last resort bid because I have a $40 gift certificate from Groupon taking off 13.33/nt) so it was actually a $62 bid, something I was going to get anyway at HOTWIRE.

4* hotel bids------------------------ (just for sheets and giggles.)

$65 (I would never pay this much usually for a lower rated hotel, but at 4 stars I was willing to gamble this much)

Las Vegas Airport (LAS)

Las Vegas Convention Center

Las Vegas Strip Vicinity North - Condo

Las Vegas Strip Vicinity South

Near Las Vegas Strip East

I don't remember which of the 5 I picked for the $75 3* rejected bid but if I were to guess I think I only selected Near Las Vegas Strip East. :/

Las Vegas Airport (LAS)

Las Vegas Convention Center

Las Vegas Strip Vicinity North - Condo

Las Vegas Strip Vicinity South

Near Las Vegas Strip East

Obviously I'm trying to avoid Stratosphere and Riviera. Because I don't want to risk getting a really old room by chancing getting a Strat room even though I hear they are renovated some, now.

What is the best rate you're able to find thru conventional booking channels?

Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.

Really disastrously high. In the hundreds for the strip hotels I usually book through, the big ones on the strip. Even Excalibur is 85 on the lowest night and $1xx for the weekend nights. Must be a convention or three in town. I would expect thisfor CES/AEE but not the last week of April, ugh.

I see $49 for Candlewood on the sites that show the names of the hotels and such, that's a 3 star suite (or so they say) and I never book on chain hotel websites anymore, they all seem double or full rack rate (with sometimes very minor negligible ($5 discounts) compared to say Hotwire, Travelocity (their non-opaque side).

Their $35 3 Star Travelocity Rating "Top Secret Hotel" for their "Airport and Convention Center" area Pool, Non Smoking, Internet, Shuttle is listed but it won't sell it to me stating it's sold out. 4 Smiles Traveller Rating but who knows even what that means.

Priceline bidding is exhausting to say the least. I wonder if this is just a ploy, and that there are actually no more rooms in this level in the inventory now, I really do not want to wait til the end to see if they release more rooms, I need the room on the night of the 28th Thursday. And I really don't want to see the only rooms available at twice the cost. D:

No suggestions eh?

I might just get something outside of Priceline. But I have a $40 Priceline Bonus, but it just doesn't look that great in the cards right now. Is Priceline that popular with the lower star bookers? It seemed so much like the Hotwire side of this forum was more active IMHO.. I could be mistaken mb, it is just an opinion. Observation..

Kinda really sucks. I'm there on business and I didn't know until Sunday and that's when I started booking and rates have been going up a little down Monday morning but mostly up now. : (((

It's okay that we didn't get to find out that 2* strip east hotel. Probably should have jumped at that instead of gambling that it would have gone lower.. The board did help though in telling me what was what I didn't want. Like the Microtel and the Super 8 although that would probably have been a better option distance wise than what I got.. More on that later. So Travelocity also had this thing called "top secret hotels" where they also hide the name of the hotel until you pay them. It's so people can't price match the lower price. So anyway they had a 3 star in "airport and convention center area" even though we all know that's not the same area at all by even PL or HW standards. But I guess they just lumped it in there. I was hoping to get it, but it was sold out and the computer system dragged their feet to update it. Either that or it was a schill to get other 3 stars sold. So after many many many times of trying; I would about ten, over the course of a couple of times one day and the next, I just was playing around with the other 3 star, but forgot it was strip west and i was so tired and fed up with this game they had, and having me call in to their call center in india and having the first guy tell me my card was bad, wtf. And then the supervisor finally not lying to me and saying it was sold out. I mean forreals. So I forgot it was strip west and wanted to test again to see if I could get the airport/conv centr area and forgetting I chose the 3 star west. And it went through. no refunds or cancellations. I was upset to say the least, big disappointment. If only someone somehow would have told me what that 2.5* was and/or Travelocity not lying and playing games then I would not be so far out west to the strip. I'm here on business but it deals with the strip. I have a car but i still want to be able to access the stuf in town and not be 15 minutes away. there's so much traffic now from the construction, hate it. takes so long and the drivers here cut you off but when you need to get by, they block both lanes in a 2 lane road. idiots. this is why you stay near where you need to be. Why do people say the thing about colsing threads? it seems like you still can comment.. but yeah whats done is done cant get help now i waited tooo for a long time for responses on some posts, guess the board isn't lik that it used to be whn you started it. i guess 6 years ago. that's long for internet years. you going to open up a Travelocity section also for the different city/state places?

We've moved this thread to the OTHER DEALS - HOTELS section of the board where we're currently keeping the Travelocity top secret hotel deals.

What was the hotel, price and amenities shown before your purchase?

Please also note that we have a link to Travelocity in the support page... please check there and use the links whenever possible.

Thanks.

Sure but I think this thread would have been more useful in the Priceline board because it listed failed bids for Priceline. That's the most important part of the thread. I'll look in that other section for Travelocity stuff.

My rate was 47.

3* Travelocity Rating

4 Smiles Traveler Rating

Way far out of strip.

About 6 miles out. The strip hotels look so small from here.

You can hear planes until 1-2am. But it's not as bad as Riviera..

Breakfast staff nice. Night shift guy not at all.

Loud a/c heat unit.

1st story back view is blocked

2nd story partially obscured by trees

Even 4th floor not that great.

Nice showerhead.

Medium grit sandpaper toilet paper. So, not so bad.

Mints in lobby.

Free internet, but end rooms have bad reception.

Wired internet avail, but cord does not reach bed, only at desk.

You merged the posts and retitled the individual post so it looks like I did that.

If people read this in the future, those were priceline bids and then moderator thereuare merged the post with a separate post for the hotel on Travelocity. Just so people know. Because there is no bidding on Travelocity. Just in case it confuses everyone. I didn't post it like this.

Chose to Hotwire closer to town for two more days. Want to update that this HIE location is not as bad as where I'm staying now. Next time, I'm bidding a one day when we don't know for sure where it is.

Incomparison to where I am now, that location was actually quieter and the clientele is more upscale and you don't hear as much noise from slamming doors as this location I am at, which I will reveal later, but it's very close to the airport and only a 2.5* if that gives you any indication. And Hotwire placed it "near Strip East" even though it's more like "Airport Area."
