dvcbwvfans Posted April 25, 2011 Report Posted April 25, 2011 Thanks for this great site! So the family has made an agreement we will have part of our summer vacation trip to Washington DC this year. - We want 3 hotel rooms since will be 10 people (7 adults 3 kids) traveling-Check in June 15 Check out June 18-We want to stay in downtown and want to stick with: Convention Center - Capitol Hill White House
AaronJB Posted April 25, 2011 Report Posted April 25, 2011 Welcome to Betterbidding. :)The issue with PRICELINE is that it will only guarantee 1 bed/double occupancy per room. You can request more than one bed, but the hotel could say no (whether due to policy or availability or both) or charge more. This is especially an issue in some cities where inventory can be tight during busy periods - especially NYC, but Boston and DC are also problematic. HOTWIRE is a better choice in this case due to the ability to indicate the amount of people in each room, and HOTWIRE will ensure some form of bedding for the entire party. Are you seeing any listings of interest when searching HOTWIRE?Thank you for using the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.
dvcbwvfans Posted April 25, 2011 Author Report Posted April 25, 2011 Thanks for the welcome and reply. Yep, we have considered the whole possibilty of not being 100% happy with bedding options via priceline. But Hotwire is going to put us a decent amount over 200 per night with tax/fees to stay in the Whitehouse/south of mall area at this point.
thereuare Posted April 26, 2011 Report Posted April 26, 2011 -Max bid we would like is $140 for a 3.5 or 4 star per room.I think this is going to be a tough win at $140 or under, but please confirm if you first wanted to try for a 4* up to your limit OR if your goal is the least expensive 3.5* or higher property for this stay. We'll then suggest a strategy for you to follow. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases... and please click this PRICELINE link before replying.Thanks. dvcbwvfans Posted April 28, 2011 Author Report Posted April 28, 2011 I think to start with our goal would be to shoot for the lowest cost for the stay 3.5 or 4. Look forward to hearing your thoughts and suggestions
