Priceline Hotel: Help on hotel in NYC or Jersey city on May 7th

Dear Thereuare,

I am planning a trip to NYC on May 7th for a small alumni reunion. I have read quiet a few posts on your website and found very helpful. Unfortunately, I tried 3 days of bidding at Priceline.com but wasn't sucessful.

My budget is under $120.

I tried to bid among the following 7 zones: CPS, SoHo, ESB, MSG, MTE, MTW, TS. I tried 3.5* hotel at price $105-$122 using the strategy you listed in other post. I also tried 3* and 2.5* hotel to the price $122. No luck neither.

To look for better chance, I expand the area to Jersey City in NJ. I tried 4* with the final bid price at $105 and didn't work. I switched to 3.5* and 3*, but $95 wasn't successful neither. I was planning to bid tomorrow again for $115 for the 4* in Jersey City tomorrow and similar price at lower star levels.

As the travel day approaches, I am worried very much about the hotel. I also searched hotel.com and hotwire, wishing to just buy it directly.

Do you have any suggestions about the bidding within this budget? Or should I consider living further away? I won't rent a car, and I will be living by myself. So just hope it's a safe and clean place.

Are there events in NYC that you need to attend? If so, how late will you need to return at nite? Without a car i would not bid PRICELINE for less then 4* as you could end up in an area not near a PATH train or convenient mass transit. With no car, how will you be arriving to the city? (if by plane which airport)
