coolgc Posted April 21, 2011 Report Posted April 21, 2011 Hi,We need a 3, 3.5 or 4 star in New York City for one night on Sunday April 24th. Prefer zones 6,13 or 9. Don't want to spend more than $80 or so.Ofcourse, would prefer to spend as little as possible and get a hotel with free breakfast if possible. We are somewhat open to the zone we stay in as long as we are closeby to Times Square and/or Empire State. What should be my starting bid or please let me know other suggestions? Thank you!
AaronJB Posted April 21, 2011 Report Posted April 21, 2011 Good evening. :)It would be appreciated if you could write the zones rather than list the numbers. Thanks. :) Additionally, there is no way to ensure free breakfast or any other amenity when bidding. Spring is expensive in NYC, but I'm pleasantly surprised to see a 3* in the Chelsea-MSG area on HOTWIRE for $73 w/Restaurant, Complimentary Breakfast, Fitness, Hi-Speed Internet, Business. This is a possible match for the Wingate. I'd definitely suggest taking the deal, as $73 (the price you see may vary slightly) for NYC in the Spring is a very good deal.Thank you for using the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.
coolgc Posted April 22, 2011 Author Report Posted April 22, 2011 Thanks for the help. The zones we would prefer are:- Empire State Building Area- Chelsea Area- Madison Square Garden - Convention AreaI checked hotwire and it's not showing the 3* for $73. It shows me for $98. I have also observed HOTWIRE to show different prices on different searches. Not sure if that's happening here.We are not necessarily keen on the breakfast or other amenities as long we can get $80 or less and get a 3* or better.I would appreciate any other ideas. Thanks!!
thereuare Posted April 22, 2011 Report Posted April 22, 2011 Under $80 in NYC is not very common, you may get lucky with it being the Easter Holiday, but if $80 is rejected and you're serious about this trip, i would be 'pretty content' with anything less then $100.If you want to try $80 or under, at the 3* level you have ONE re-bid zones. If you're not familiar with re-bidding please read Priceline Re-Bidding Explained and feel free to ask questions and/or confirm your re-bid zones with the board before proceeding.Select 3* MSG...Bid $60, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $65, if rejected close browser and use this link to re-access PRICELINESelect 3* ESB...Bid $60, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $65, if rejected close browser and use this link to re-access PRICELINESelect 3* Chelsea...Bid $60, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $65, if rejected close browser and use this link to re-access PRICELINESelect 3* MSG and ESB...Bid $70, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $75, if rejected close browser and use this link to re-access PRICELINESelect 3* MSG and Chelsea...Bid $70, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $75, if rejected close browser and use this link to re-access PRICELINESelect 3* MSG and ESB and Chelsea...Bid $78, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $80Any questions feel free to ask. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Good luck and let us know how it goes. coolgc Posted April 22, 2011 Author Report Posted April 22, 2011 The rebid zone I see is "Coney Island" with nothing more than a 2*. Is that correct?I appreciate the guidance. Thanks.

coolgc Posted April 24, 2011 Author Report Posted April 24, 2011 After discussions with the family, we ended up bidding in the Newark Airport area. Tried 2 rebids and got the Hilton Newark Penn Station for $55 plus taxes (~71 total) for 4/24 one night. Looks like it has a $21 parking but being close to the station might be helpful to get to NYC since that's the purpose of our visit. Any other suggestions on breakfast options, parking and/or transportation in or to NYC would be helpful!Thank you!

thereuare Posted April 24, 2011 Report Posted April 24, 2011 If your plans involve going to NYC this is the best hotel you could have landed in this zone. It's connected to Newark Penn Station for easy PATH access, but i'd get an early start and eat your meals in Manhattan and not wander from the hotel... it's not really an area you want to be exploring the neighborhood, especially at nite. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.
