novice118 Posted April 21, 2011 Report Posted April 21, 2011 Hi everyone,I am new to hotel bidding and would really appreciate any help you could give. A group of us (8 people total) are going to a Cubs game on May 7. We would like to spend the night in Chicago that night to avoid a long drive home. We aren't too picky about the hotel star rating but would like to be near restaurants/nightlife/etc. so we will have something to do after the game! From reading, I gather that I need to use Hotwire because we will need double beds? We would like to get 2 rooms, ideally for not much more than $100 night but I'm not entirely sure what is reasonable for this time of year. Thanks for any advice you could give!
thereuare Posted April 21, 2011 Report Posted April 21, 2011 There is a fairly large conference taking place over these dates and i'm doubtful that you'll be able to get 2 rooms for quad occupancy each for near $100. If you search HOTWIRE for 2rooms/8adults is anything close to your desired star rating and budget offered?I'm not sure how late the game will end and what time the subway stops, but perhaps you could make the airport zone work for your needs? Certainly less convenient then downtown, but if you're able to take the train to/from the game perhaps it could be an affordable alternative. AaronJB Posted April 21, 2011 Report Posted April 21, 2011 Which way are you driving in from? I'd be happy to suggest suburban options, which would be cheaper (while taking the train downtown isn't optimal, rates are high these dates and it'll save on hotel - likely pretty significantly) and save on parking (parking at downtown hotels is generally around $40-50.)Thank you for using the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.
novice118 Posted April 22, 2011 Author Report Posted April 22, 2011 Ugh, conventions...that will make things tricky. We are driving up from the Indianapolis area if that helps.
