RCernig Posted April 19, 2011 Report Posted April 19, 2011 I will be in Scottsdale for one night 5/13/11. I am looking to see what a good estimate of price ranges to bid on for a 3.5-4 star hotel or a 3 star hotel. Earlier that week (5/8) I put in a low bid on priceline of $55 for a 4-star hotel and it was accepted for the Hyatt Regency. I tried $55 for 5/13 and was rejected (I know $55 is pretty low but thought I would try since I lucked out on the 5/8 date). Any suggestions would be great. I may look into HOTWIRE as well.

RCernig Posted April 20, 2011 Author Report Posted April 20, 2011 Sorry, I know I'm very vague in the description. I'm only staying one evening and will probably be out and about most of the day. I would prefer not to be in the North Scottsdale as I'll be heading to the airport early in the morning.I guess for amenities: restaurant, pool, breakfast would be ideal (I don't need golf or tennis, etc.). I was looking at spending $65 give or take. I was just curious for $60-$65 should I be bidding on a 3.5* or 4* and what is a typical hotel for that price range. Also, is there a general rule of thumb on the best time to bid on a hotel (ie, 2 weeks before the date or 2 months before the date). Thanks for any help.
thereuare Posted April 20, 2011 Report Posted April 20, 2011 Yes, at the moment your target of $65 or under would seem reasonable for the Scottsdale zone.As far as when to bid, see the related link in our PRICELINE FAQ.Let us know once you're ready to begin bidding and we'll suggest a strategy for you to follow. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. RCernig Posted April 20, 2011 Author Report Posted April 20, 2011 Thank you. I'm ready to bid if you had a strategy.
