KellJ Posted April 20, 2011 Report Posted April 20, 2011 Hoping to get in on the Club Quarters deal (several winners at $80), but using PRICELINE link and 4 free re-bids, went from $80 up to $100 and all rejected. :) I looked on their website and there is availability at $235/night. The location is very good for my purposes; not interested in mid-town, etc.I'll try again tomorrow and see if something opens up. There apparently was, but no longer showing, a Hotwire listing for them for $115 or so.If anyone has any advice, would welcome it.
AaronJB Posted April 20, 2011 Report Posted April 20, 2011 Hopefully you'll be able to get the CQ at a little higher, but keep in mind that the hotel may not have discounted inventory for these dates or may have sold out of discounted inventory if it did have discounted inventory at these levels for these dates at one point. The CQ appears to have released discounted inventory for a portion of the Spring season - possibly a chunk of rooms to ensure occupancy levels - and there's no way to know how much of that inventory remains. You may also get something else.Thank you for keeping us updated and for using the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.
after5 Posted April 22, 2011 Report Posted April 22, 2011 I too am a regular staying downtown. There is a pattern with Club Quarters using Priceline. It's like they refresh availability monthy during the last week of the month.Probably some automated message from Priceline reminding them the inventory loaded is about to expire.Rather frustrating to find something during that first week of the month and this has happened like 4 months in a row.Probably on 4/27 is when May dates will open up at Club Quarters in FiDi.
KellJ Posted April 22, 2011 Author Report Posted April 22, 2011 @after5: Thanks for the tip! Most helpful.

KellJ Posted April 23, 2011 Author Report Posted April 23, 2011 Bidding through PRICELINE link, tried my strategy again with free rebids, from $90 up to $110 and failed.I plan on continuing to try in hopes that After5's suggestion comes true, that rooms will be released during the last week of the month....(I have a floor in a friend's apt I can crash on, if this fails... :) )
thereuare Posted April 23, 2011 Report Posted April 23, 2011 Sorry to hear this latest round of bidding failed... keep us updated and let us know if we can be of further help along the way. Thanks for using the PRICELINE links on the board to begin your bidding.Good luck. KellJ Posted April 27, 2011 Author Report Posted April 27, 2011 Bid up to $125 this time. Still not accepted. The posted price on Priceline "A 3.5* hotel is $275 - your bid is very low" concerns me--- the $275 is $30 or so higher than it was when I started. So I guess they aren't desperate yet....but I am!!Any suggestions?
AaronJB Posted April 27, 2011 Report Posted April 27, 2011 The issue is 4/30-5/1; the 4/29-30 night does not appear quite as bad. For both dates together, a higher bid is definitely going to be required. You could try splitting your stay, but unfortunately I think the two nights combined is still going to require - overall - a higher bid.Thank you for using the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.
after5 Posted April 27, 2011 Report Posted April 27, 2011 It's still not been revised, maybe later today (4/27)I saw somebody nailed the Hilton at $120 which is across the WTC site. That's not bad.I'll keep plugging away and not start the panic until another day.
KellJ Posted May 29, 2011 Author Report Posted May 29, 2011 Hi, all. To close this thread here's my final report: I kept trying the strategies that others had used successfully, jumped on when I someone had found a deal in WTC/Financial, but somehow just missed them all. (Used the PRICELINE link for this site when trying).Ended up crashing with a friend in Jersey City, who had a view across the Hudson of exactly where I wanted to be staying, so it wasn't a total loss... :) The suggestion to try on Tuesdays for rooms opening up is one I'll keep in mind in the future. Thanks to all for your help.
thereuare Posted May 30, 2011 Report Posted May 30, 2011 Thanks for closing this thread.Hope you got to see Jersey City a little bit too, which is a city which has been undergoing a big transformation. Please remember to follow-up your threads with whatever you end up doing for the stay, even if you choose to book direct, cancel your trip, etc. Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
