Travis Bud Posted April 19, 2011 Report Posted April 19, 2011 Hello,I am looking to bid on priceline for the following requirements:Star Level:3.54Locations:Times Square - Theatre DistrictMidtown WestPrice:Would like to stay as cheap as possible. Hotwire has Midtown for $171 and Times Square for $211.What would you recommend I start bidding on?
derekh99 Posted April 19, 2011 Report Posted April 19, 2011 I just got a 4* priceline hotel in July yesterday for $109 a night. It was in the CPS zone. And in my experience of a year on PRICELINE I've generally got better deals by booking in advance. And I always feel relieved that I've got a place. Are those the only zones you are considering? I think the moderators like it when you list all the zones you would accept. I'm almost guessing you can get something cheaper in one of the central zones on PRICELINE.
Travis Bud Posted April 19, 2011 Author Report Posted April 19, 2011 Those are the only zones we would like to stay in. We want to be as close to Times Square as possible and MTW seems nice. I am also willing to spend a little more to get in one of those 2 zones over another one..
thereuare Posted April 20, 2011 Report Posted April 20, 2011 Welcome to BetterBidding!I am looking to bid on priceline for the following requirements:Star Level:3.54Are you willing to pay more for a 4* vs. a 3.5* OR is your goal the least expensive 3.5* or better for this stay? What is your maximum bid for this stay?Let us know the above and we'll suggest a strategy for you to follow. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases... and please click this PRICELINE link before replying.Thanks. Travis Bud Posted April 20, 2011 Author Report Posted April 20, 2011 I am willing to pay more for a 4* but if it gets to be too much 3.5* is fine. We are trying to stay under $170 for the 4*. If we can not do it for under 170 we will look at 3.5*.

Travis Bud Posted April 20, 2011 Author Report Posted April 20, 2011 Ok, I clicked the PRICELINE link.. Sorry about that.
thereuare Posted April 20, 2011 Report Posted April 20, 2011 I agree above with derekh99 in that you don't need to stay in Times Square to be 'centrally located' and there are better values elsewhere... see our thoughts here: Hotels Near Times SquareHowever, ultimately it's your trip and money, so if you only want to stay in MTW or TS then you can try as follows:At the 4* level you have SIX re-bid zones. If you're not familiar with re-bidding please read Priceline Re-Bidding Explained and feel free to ask questions and/or confirm your re-bid zones with the board before proceeding.Select 4* TS...Bid $105, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $110, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $115, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $120, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $125, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $130, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $135, if rejected close browser and use this link to re-access PRICELINESelect 4* MTW...Bid $105, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $110, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $115, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $120, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $125, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $130, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $135, if rejected close browser and use this link to re-access PRICELINESelect 4* MTW and TS...Bid $140, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $145, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $150, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $155, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $160, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $165, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $170Any questions feel free to ask. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Good luck and let us know how it goes. Travis Bud Posted April 21, 2011 Author Report Posted April 21, 2011 After reading the post about other places, we will also consider MTE. Would that change the bid process? Thank you for all the help by the way!
Travis Bud Posted April 21, 2011 Author Report Posted April 21, 2011 I am guessing it would look like this after MTW and before MTW, MTE, TSSelect 4* MTE...Bid $105, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $110, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $115, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $120, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $125, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $130, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $135, if rejected close browser and use this link to re-access PRICELINE

derekh99 Posted April 21, 2011 Report Posted April 21, 2011 Nice. I stayed at the Warwick a month ago and liked it. Enjoy your trip.
thereuare Posted April 22, 2011 Report Posted April 22, 2011 Congratulations on your success!Looks like a very nice deal for this property. If you're so inclined you can get some late nite eats at the famous and always busy which is right down the block from this hotel (NOTE: the 'right' guys are on the SW corner and only there from 8pm-4am)Thank you for sharing your win with the board. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Enjoy your stay. Travis Bud Posted April 25, 2011 Author Report Posted April 25, 2011 Thanks for the food tip. Does anyone else have any favorite places to eat around this hotel? Hoping try some local favorites!
thereuare Posted April 26, 2011 Report Posted April 26, 2011 Delfriscos is a good steak house nearby, but like the rest of this area: $$$$Much of this neighborhood caters to corporate lunches and, given the rent in the area, restaurants are very expensive... you'll need to head outside of this immediate area if you're looking for something reasonably priced. If you post what type of food you like and expected budget for a meal (and whether or not the price you're expecting includes drinks, tax, tip) i'll try to offer some other suggestions.
