I apologize ahead of time if I am leaving out any information, as this is my first post.

I am looking for a 4* in the Mag Mile area from 5/13 through 5/15. As I was looking through the forum for others that have gotten rooms for those dates, people managed to get it for below $100/night. I would appreciate all advice on how to get a room for less than $100/night.

HOTWIRE quoted Mag Mile/Streeterville $151/night amenities include: Smoke Free Rooms, Fitness Center, Restaurants, Business Center, High-Speed Internet Access

Thanks in advance for the help!

Welcome to Betterbidding. :)

In terms of hotel rates, rates vary significantly on longer-terms (monthly/seasonally) and shorter-terms (day-to-day). Some users have lucked out on cheaper HOTWIRE rates (primarily for the Hyatt) in recent weeks, but unfortunately these are busier dates and rates are higher. Additionally, rates for the Spring have risen since earlier in the year. What would be your desired max budget per night?

Thank you for your prompt reply!

Ideally, I would like to spend less than $100, but around $130/night would be my max. for a 4* around Mag Mile.

Additionally, this is just a weekend trip to Chicago for a mini vacation. I will be arriving around 11:30pm on the night of the 12th. I was planning on getting a hotel near the airport that night and then go into the city in the morning (to save some $ and not deal with transportation late at night after a long flight). For the night of the 12th I found a 3* on Hotwire for $38/night in the ORD South area with amenities including: Fitness Center, Restaurants, Business Center, High-Speed Internet Access and Golf Nearby. Can you please help me in identifying the hotel and also let me know if it is a good idea to check-in to an airport hotel just for a night then go into the city for the weekend.

Thanks again for all the help!

If you aren't getting into the airport until late late at night, then staying out by the airport on the 12th is actually a very good idea.

Unfortunately, I'd be concerned about the 3* Airport South property. It is only recommended by 55% of HOTWIRE users (which is a very low number for HOTWIRE.) While the amenity set matches the Holiday Inn O'Hare, my worry is that this may be a new amenity set for the Waverton Hotel, which is the former Holiday Inn Elmhurst, which gets very negative reviews. The HOTWIRE listing in question - on the detail page - has a 3/5 rating for location, and the out-of-the-way location of the Waverton in the zone, I think that may be an indication this is that property.

There is a 3* Airport North w/Shuttle, Complimentary Breakfast, Pool, Fitness, Hi-Speed Internet, Business for $58, which would be a possible match for the Holiday Inn Express, as another alternate, or you could consider PRICELINE. Oddly, rates out by O'Hare are on the high side for this date - possibly a convention.

Thank you for the info on the airport hotel.

What is the strategy that I should be using on Priceline for both the airport hotel and hotel at Mag Mile. For the airport hotel I would like to keep it under $50 if possible.

Please start by reading your messages.

We'll then use separate threads for each leg of your stay... as i think the 5/14 downtown portion of your stay is going to be the more difficult, we'll start with that part of your trip so that if you're unsuccessful you'll still have the flexibility of not being committed just yet at the airport for 5/13.

At the 4* level in Chicago you have SIX re-bid zones. If you're not familiar with re-bidding please read Priceline Re-Bidding Explained and feel free to ask questions and/or confirm your re-bid zones with the board before proceeding.

Select 4* Mag Mile...

Bid $80, if rejected add re-bid zone...

Bid $85, if rejected add re-bid zone...

Bid $90, if rejected add re-bid zone...

Bid $95, if rejected add re-bid zone...

Bid $100, if rejected add re-bid zone...

Bid $105, if rejected add re-bid zone...

Bid $110

I'd start with the above, if rejected post back and we'll revise to try again in 24 hours.

Good luck and let us know how it goes.

I worked my way up to $140 using my 6 re-bid zones and the offer was still not accepted. Any suggestions or ideas why the price is high compared to other wins on the calendar? How much should I expect to pay for these dates now?

There is an orthodontists convention taking place over your stay with 20K attendees... this is likely the reason for the higher then usual rates.

I'm guessing at the moment a 4* in this zone will likely run you about $175 or so.

Let us know how you'd like to proceed and we'll try to assist further.

Thank you for the help.

Priceline accepted my offer for a 4* at $175 in NMA. I got the Westin Chicago River North.

Can you please help me with selecting a hotel to stay in on May 12th near the airport. I am looking just for a place to stay for the night since I arrive at 11pm and would just leave in the morning. Just looking for a convenient place for around $50 or less. Let me know if Hotwire or Priceline is the way to go.

Thanks again!

Congrats on your success. :)

Very nice deal for this Westin property for busier dates. I think this is a particularly nice Westin property right on the river. While river view is a paid upgrade, it doesn't hurt to ask (worst they can say is no) if there's any way that you could get a room on the South face of the property, as those rooms overlook the river and provide (especially on high floors) really nice views.

Please start a new thread for your 12th stay.

Thank you for sharing your win and using the site's PRICELINE or HOTWIRE links to start your purchases and searches.

Enjoy your stay.
