betaclem Posted April 19, 2011 Report Posted April 19, 2011 I'm looking for a 4* hotel in Chelsea or ESB for the night of Thursday, May 5. Where should I start my bidding? If I went down to a 3* hotel(since it doesn't appear there are any 3.5* hotels in these areas), where should I start my bidding?Thank you very much for the help.
AaronJB Posted April 19, 2011 Report Posted April 19, 2011 Welcome to Betterbidding. :)What would be your desired budget per night?Thank you for using the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.
betaclem Posted April 19, 2011 Author Report Posted April 19, 2011 I would like to stay under $170 for the night. I was also looking at adding the downtown area, but the area is too large.
thereuare Posted April 20, 2011 Report Posted April 20, 2011 I'm not sure if $170 is going to be enough for a 4* hotel in either of these zones, but to give it a try...At the 4* level you have SIX re-bid zones. If you're not familiar with re-bidding please read Priceline Re-Bidding Explained and feel free to ask questions and/or confirm your re-bid zones with the board before proceeding.Select 4* ESB...Bid $120, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $125, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $130, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $135, if rejected close browser and use this link to re-access PRICELINESelect 4* Chelsea...Bid $120, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $125, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $130, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $135, if rejected close browser and use this link to re-access PRICELINESelect 4* ESB and Chelsea...Bid $140, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $145, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $150, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $155, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $160, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $165, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $170Any questions feel free to ask. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Good luck and let us know how it goes. betaclem Posted April 20, 2011 Author Report Posted April 20, 2011 If i went with a 3* hotel do you think we would be able to stay below $175? If so, where do you think I should start my bidding. Thank you!
thereuare Posted April 20, 2011 Report Posted April 20, 2011 PRICELINE does offer 3.5* hotels in each of these zones... we just haven't had any reported to the board yet.I think you have a chance at a 3* at $175 or under... not sure of a 3.5* or not since i'm not sure which hotels in these zones are included in that category.Have you tried the 4* bidding yet? Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. betaclem Posted April 20, 2011 Author Report Posted April 20, 2011 Today I tried the rebidding process and went all the way up 180 for a 4* for ESB and Chelsea. I then did the same thing for a 3.5* and went up to $180. Still no luck. Do you recommend to keep trying this over the next few days or is it time for me to include 3* hotels or increase my max price? Thank you again for all the help.
thereuare Posted April 21, 2011 Report Posted April 21, 2011 Can i inquire as to your plans for this trip and why only these two zones?? The zones in NYC are so compact and close together that there is often little difference from one midtown zone to another. As well, since this is just a one nite stay i assume you'll be out and about for a good time that you're in the city... will you have need to return to the hotel frequently during the day?Above you also considered staying Downtown but that the area was too large, if you could choose a location within this zone, which part(s) of the zone would be acceptable? Would the location of the Millennium Hilton work for your needs? Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.
