lufu Posted April 19, 2011 Report Posted April 19, 2011 I don't mind staying anywhere in Manhattan, budget $150.Yesterday there was room for 4* Sheraton Brooklyn at $120 (HOTWIRE linked from this forum) but I deliberated for a day and it's now completely gone. Any suggestion or strategy for bidding at priceline. Am I getting too close to my travel date and therefore the prices have gone up?Desperately seeking help and advise.
thereuare Posted April 19, 2011 Report Posted April 19, 2011 I don't mind staying anywhere in Manhattan, budget $150.Your budget may be a bit tough for these dates, but are you sure you want to stay anywhere in Manhattan? The UES and UWS zones can go pretty far north and may not be that convenient for the typical visitor.I assume you're 'ok' with a very small room (like at the Hudson Hotel) and/or a 15 minute walk to a subway station?I don't think the high rates are due to the proximity of your stay, but more so that it's just generally a very expensive time (Spring is high-season) in the city and you're also visiting midweek (weekends are usually a little cheaper, and for stays which encompass both midweek and weekend dates, the weekend dates can often offset the 'sticker shock' of the midweek nites)Please let us know the answers to the questions above and we'll advise accordingly. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.
