Buddhabomb Posted April 18, 2011 Report Posted April 18, 2011 I'm planning a trip as a couple to Orlando in June, and plan on staying in the Universal Maingate area. I've been surfing Priceline for the past month and am finally ready to pull the trigger, however, I'm still undecided as to whether or not to book the vacation package or attempt to bid down the flight, hotel, and car separately. It appears that the Priceline packages have waivered in price contingent only on the airfare changes while hotel and car remain constant. The package savings off published rates is significant but I feel I may have more to gain by bidding(perhaps at the sacrifice of choice and more parts to deal with). Any advice out there or past experience?Traveling 6/7-6/14. Flight, Hotel, Car: 3* preference
thereuare Posted April 23, 2011 Report Posted April 23, 2011 Welcome to BetterBidding! If you price a vacation package, then deduct the cost of purchasing a car rental and airfare 'ala carte', what is left? This would be your maximum budget for a hotel to 'beat' the package deal. What hotel are you using as the basis for the vacation package rate? Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. Buddhabomb Posted April 29, 2011 Author Report Posted April 29, 2011 Thanks for the reply! I've been keeping my eye on the Holiday Inn & Suites Maingate. The package was as low as $1093 two weeks ago(on a Wed/Thr) but has since shot back up to around $1250-1300

scottlevin Posted April 30, 2011 Report Posted April 30, 2011 And how much is the airfare separately? This is a package for 1 or 2?
