KellJ Posted April 17, 2011 Report Posted April 17, 2011 This must be a busy weekend. Prices look crazy.Looking for 3.5* or 4* in Boston city area (Back Bay, Fanieul, etc). Cambridge OK. NOT airport.Need one room for two adults (two beds). Other amenities not important. I was hoping for $150 or so, but can go as high as $200 if that is necessary.Help with bidding strategy, please. Thanks.KellJ
KellJ Posted April 18, 2011 Author Report Posted April 18, 2011 OK. I'll take airport. I'll take almost anything! (But won't have a car, so must be able to get around by T.)KellJ
thereuare Posted April 18, 2011 Report Posted April 18, 2011 Looking for 3.5* or 4* in Boston city area (Back Bay, Fanieul, etc)...Please list which zones, by PRICELINE name, you're willing to accept and we'll suggest a strategy for you to follow.Given the high prices are you willing to pay more for a 4* vs. a 3.5* OR is your goal at this point the least expensive 3.5* or better for this stay? Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. slruud Posted April 18, 2011 Report Posted April 18, 2011 Just for reference, Lastminutetravel.com has the Westin Waterfront for $141/nite and the Ames Hotel for $144/nite, however they are "on request".
thereuare Posted April 18, 2011 Report Posted April 18, 2011 During 'normal' times I've found LMT's on request status to be a toss-up if they're able to get additional rooms and fulfill the request, but i've found it's very rare if they can get additional rooms during times of extremely high demand and low availability. However, as the savings are can be significant, it's something you may want to pursue before bidding up to $200/nite.If/when you're ready to bid, at the 3* level you have TWO re-bid zones. If you're not familiar with re-bidding please read Priceline Re-Bidding Explained and feel free to ask questions and/or confirm your re-bid zones with the board before proceeding.NOTE: there are no 3* hotels in Fenway which is why we excluded it from the bidding below.Select 3* Harbor Front and Waterfront and Quincy Market...Bid $100, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $110, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $120, if rejected close browser and use this link to re-access PRICELINESelect 3* Cambridge and Copley...Bid $100, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $110, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $120, if rejected close browser and use this link to re-access PRICELINESelect 3* Cambridge and Waterfront and Quincy Market...Bid $125, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $130, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $135, if rejected close browser and use this link to re-access PRICELINESelect 3* Harbor Front and Copley...Bid $125, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $130, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $135, if rejected close browser and use this link to re-access PRICELINESelect 3* Copley and Waterfront and Quincy Market...Bid $140, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $145, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $150, if rejected close browser and use this link to re-access PRICELINESelect 3* Cambridge and Harbor Front...Bid $140, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $145, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $150, if rejected close browser and use this link to re-access PRICELINESelect 3* Copley and Waterfront and Quincy and Cambridge...Bid $155, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $160, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $165, if rejected close browser and use this link to re-access PRICELINESelect 3* Copley and Waterfront and Quincy and Harbor Front...Bid $155, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $160, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $165, if rejected close browser and use this link to re-access PRICELINESelect 3* Cambridge and Harbor Front and Copley and Waterfront...Bid $170, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $175, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $180, if rejected close browser and use this link to re-access PRICELINESelect 3* Cambridge and Harbor Front and Copley and Quincy...Bid $170, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $175, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $180, if rejected close browser and use this link to re-access PRICELINESelect 3* Cambridge and Harbor Front and Copley and Waterfront and Quincy...Bid $185, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $190, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $195Any questions feel free to ask. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Good luck and let us know how it goes. KellJ Posted May 29, 2011 Author Report Posted May 29, 2011 Sorry I didn't follow up with a post. I gave up on visiting Boston this weekend. The prices were just too crazy. (Everything >$200) I didn't know when I chose this weekend that half the colleges were having commencement then. Thanks for the help - I tried it but could find anything decent also reasonably (for me) priced.
