blackham Posted April 15, 2011 Report Posted April 15, 2011 i heard some US car rentals don't let us to drive the car back to canadian borderhow do they enforce it? do they work with the border agents? are they any companies that let us drive whereever we want?
thereuare Posted April 15, 2011 Report Posted April 15, 2011 Some companies will allow you to drive almost where ever you want while others may be geographic limitations on how far you can drive with their 'unlimited' miles.Crossing borders gets a bit more tricky... some companies will and other won't. However, i believe there is also a law on the Canadian books that a Canadian citizen can't rent a car in the US and drive it over the border back into Canada. I'm not sure why this law exists but i've seen it mentioned numerous times. Many rentals are now equipped with GPS and/or lo-jack type devices which can alert the rental agency when the car is taken outside of the geographical boundaries. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.
