SavingAPence Posted April 15, 2011 Report Posted April 15, 2011 Fort Lauderdale (Hollywood International Airport FLL) Crowne Plaza Hotel Airport/Cruise Port 3.5 stars 95% RecommendedAmenities:Smoke Free RoomsAirport ShuttleFitness CenterPool(s)Restaurant(s)Business CenterLaundry Facilities (self-service)High-Speed Internet AccessReview: Very nice hotel. This was a nice stay. Location is off the main area of hotels it not the best neighborhood but literally right outside the Ft. Lauderdale port and across from a large mercedes dealership. Its a short drive to the beach, los olas, and restaurants. If you want to be on the beach or at the beach a lot probably pick another hotel then. You'll need a car or cab to get to most things. You could walk about half a mile to many restaurants though if you want on 17th street. Los olas or the beach is a bit further. If you are up for it, it is a 3 mile walk to the beach. If you want a quiet off the main strip place then choose this one. You cant go wrong if you get this place for $69. It is good value for a hotel which is usually like 150+. Hotel is pretty brand new, just built last year. Everything is kept really clean and I always saw someone vacumning or doing some type of cleaning in the halls all day long. The hotel is very quiet during the weekdays with few guest. During the weekends however it fills up a bit for the cruises and you can usually tell when the cruise leaves cuz the place gets pretty deserted. Staff is nice the few people I interacted with. Weird setup of main lobby on the ground next to the parking and the rooms above. You usually dont see anyone but the cleaning staff if you use a car and park in the 4 story parking garage underneath the hotel. Entrances via the garage bypass the front desk. Rarely ever went to the front desk that was in the basement area. Hotel has a restaurant with a bar but did not eat there. There is a small fitness area that is well equipped and a nice 15-20 ft long pool on the 5th floor with an outside lounge area as well. There is a computer place with 2 computers with internet access if you need them and a printer free of charge. All the rooms that have an odd number overlook the front of the hotel, the pool area, see ft lauderdale airport and planes taking off, and can even see miami skyline on a clear day. Even numbers look north toward ft lauderdale. King Room - The room was large, had a nice large HDTV with HD channels only. Limited to probably like 20 HD channels and had HBO-HD, HBO 2-HD, and HBO Signature-HD. Internet was wireless or wired in-room but was very slow. That was probably the worst part was the shotty internet. The speeds were like literally dial-up. 50kb/s up/down. Also sometimes took a while to load pages or drop internet. Wish they upgraded that a bit. The room had a nice king size bed. A nice lounging chair with table and desk. Little nook area with coffee machine, coffee, microwave, mini-fridge, and ice machine. Closet had hangers with iron and ironing board. In the descriptions it says laundry self service but there is no laundry at the hotel. It is dry cleaning services. So if you stay here go to Southport like half mile away to the coin laundry. Bathroom is nice with granite counters, tiled shower and glass door. Bathroom is slightly small though but has everything you need. The bathroom door literally swings into the bathroom almost as far as the toilet. Would stay again if in area. Great value and nice amenities, wish it was closer to the beach and near more of the shops.
