Priceline Hotel: 3* DC (White House-Downtown) Holiday Inn Washington Central

I need one bedroom in DC during June 24-28. I've seen that White House, Capitol Hill and Dupon Circle are always selected for bidding, but it seems that only the White House area is covenient for metro. The other two areas are really large and some parts of them are lack of metro. So, which area should I bid? If I bid only in the White House area, it might be very tough; but if include the other two, uncertainty might occur regarding metro convenience. Any suggestions?

The zone(s) you mention above all typically work well for the average user.

Since you'd like to target a a hotel near a metro stop, perhaps HOTWIRE would be a better option for this stay as you could then take an educated guess as to the hotel being offered, and thus a guess at the location.

Unfortunately rates are high for these dates and i don't think $100 is likely to go as far as you'd like. What seems to be your best option is a 3* hotel in the Dupont Circle zone at $135 with Restaurant, Pool, Fitness, Business, Laundry icons which would appear to be the Holiday Inn Central at 1501 Rhode Island Ave NW.

Assuming we've guessed correctly, this property looks like it's just 3 blocks to Dupont Cirlce (and the metro station there) and a few other metro lines a few blocks further in other directions. As well, the details under the HOTWIRE recommendation give this property a 4.5/5.0 for location, so i'd feel 'pretty good' that even if not the Holiday Inn, it's a different well located property.

So you can stretch your budget a bit and get what appears to be this well located property... or roll the dice a little with PRICELINE and end up anywhere within the shaded boundaries of the zone(s) you choose.

Let us know your thoughts and how you'd like to proceed and we'll take it from there.

I tried 3 stars today, and priceline suggested $145. I tried $125 but rejected. Hotwire shows that a 3 star in Dupont Circle is $150, which I guess is Holiday Inn (it is in Dupont Circle in Hotwire, but in downtown area in Priceline). So, what's the next price should I bid?

PS: I changed the period as June 25-28.

I only bid 3 stars in Downtown Area. Since there is only one free re-bid zone, I can only bid twice a day. So far, I have tried 100, 110, 115, 125. When I bid 115, Priceline suggested me bid 145. Then I bid 125 but failed. I've read some posts saying that this "suggested price" is usually higher than accpetable price. So, what should I bid between 125 and 145? Or, will it be better if I wait for one or two weeks?

Nobody can say if prices will come down between now and your stay... or move even higher. If you're happy with $145 (or lower) for a 3* hotel then i would take the deal now as yo don't know if it will still be available weeks down the road or you can roll the dice and hope that prices drop. Given HOTWIRE rates for 3* hotels in the 'downtown' area this would seem to be a pretty good deal, imo (they have a 3* in the Dupont Circle zone for $150, perhaps the same one you're bidding on... but all the other 'downtown' are $200+)

If you choose to continue bidding i'd try $130/$135 the next time you're eligible to bid again. If that is rejected wait 24 hours and try $140/$145.
