Hi - I'm wondering if anyone knows the going price right now for 4 star in Chicago for May 4th thru May 6th. It's my daughter's 21st b-day, she really wants to stay close to Magnificent Mile and be in a nice hotel. I do have a reservation already made at a 4 star but wondering if I can get a better deal, not real sure I got a real good deal at $184/night, thanks in advance for your help!

I just went on PRICELINE and bid $85/night for a 4* NMA-River North Area one come up any ideas which one it may be?? This is for my daughter who is celebrating her 21st b-day in Chicago so I'm hoping for a fun area for her and a nice hotel at a nice price. Thank you - I'm new to this so I need guidance. :)

My guess is that you're looking at the "review your bid before your submit it page" and this is not indicative that your $85 bid will be accepted (although rates are very reasonable for these dates so it very well may be enough).

PRICELINE doesn't check for inventory until after you have entered your credit card information and have clicked the "Buy My Hotel Room" now button (at which point if accepted you'll be shown the name of the hotel and will 'own' that non-refundable reservation)... have you already entered your cc details and/or clicked a "Buy My Hotel Room" button?

With PRICELINE no details about the hotel you may receive are provided before your purchase, so there is no way to guess which hotel you will likely receive. HOTWIRE is the service which shows amenities before the purchase and this can be used to take a guess as to the hotel, but the trade-off is that HOTWIRE usually costs a little more than PRICELINE.

Thank you for your reply. I'm still interested in the same area and understand my priceline bid did not go through. Do you think I can get a 4* for under $125 for the same dates? Thank you.

...and understand my priceline bid did not go through.

To clarify, it's not that your bid wasn't accepted... you never actually submitted/placed the bid.

At the moment $125 or under shouldn't be a problem for a 4* hotel on these dates. Are you ready to bid now? Are you familiar with re-bidding? (see Priceline Re-Bidding Explained)
