PhillyJoe Posted April 13, 2011 Report Posted April 13, 2011 Hi, and thanks for this great board!I'm going to chicago to see the Phillies at Wrigley 7/18 -7/20. Hotwire has a hotel I believe to be the Hyatt Regency for $89+ taxes and fees. It's 2 guys going, to have fun and think the Hyatt Regency would suite us fine, but wouldn't mind staying somewhere either nicer or cheaper and closer (Days Inn Wriggleyville appears to be $86 on hotwire for these dates).Any tips or strategies would be appreciated, while I am very familiar with bidding on pricline, this is my first time going to chicago. I also have a couple of questions. What is the max I should bid so I don't pay more than I would on Hotwire for the Hyatt Regency?Am I bidding too soon?I promise to use the links from this site and post my results. Thanks in advance for your help.
PhillyJoe Posted April 13, 2011 Author Report Posted April 13, 2011 tried priceline:used the PRICELINE link in the mods sigbid 4* zone 7 $55 failed4* zone 7 & 8 $65 failed4* zone 7, 8, & 4 $70 failed
thereuare Posted April 13, 2011 Report Posted April 13, 2011 I'm guessing the Hyatt is going to be the best bang for your buck in Chicago. While you might be able to get a lower rated hotel a little cheaper, i think you'll likely be giving up a lot in terms of quality. The 4* i'm currently seeing on HOTWIRE when searching for your dates has a Boutique icon, which wouldn't be indicative of the Hyatt... what are the amenities and zone associated with the HOTWIRE hotel you're being offered? Thanks for using the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board. Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
PhillyJoe Posted April 13, 2011 Author Report Posted April 13, 2011 Boutique, Fitness center, Business center, Non-smoking, high speed.IS there another zone I comfortably add 4* to rebid PRICELINE for the Hyatt?
PhillyJoe Posted April 13, 2011 Author Report Posted April 13, 2011 added Hyde Park to my bid for a 4* at $75.Offered me a rebid at $95, so I am thinking I will just take the hotwire deal?
PhillyJoe Posted April 13, 2011 Author Report Posted April 13, 2011 So I booked through HOTWIRE @ $89 and it was the hotel Felix.
thereuare Posted April 13, 2011 Report Posted April 13, 2011 Boutique, Fitness center, Business center, Non-smoking, high speed.... it was the hotel Felix.Congratulations on your success!Hope you're happy with the results and this property works well for your plans. Can you confirm if there was also a Restaurant icon associated with this property... you can still view this information by going to HOTWIRE and clicking the MY ACCOUNT link near the top right of their home page.Thank you for sharing your results with the board. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Enjoy your stay. AaronJB Posted April 13, 2011 Report Posted April 13, 2011 So I booked through HOTWIRE @ $89 and it was the hotel Felix.Rooms are small at this renovated property, but I think in every other regard it'll work out well: plenty of restaurants in the nearby River North area (Portillo's a few blocks South, for example), easy access to Red Line subway (nearby at the corner of Chicago/State.) Please let me know if you have any area questions. Additionally, for quick snacks/drinks, there's a nice Whole Foods a couple of blocks due East of the hotel.
