RSW 4/20-4/24 need help

I have been bidding on full size cars and larger for more than a week. I started at 18 and have increased in increments to 48. I then saw that I could rent for a week through Priceline with Budget for the equivalent of 42 per day, if I divide their weekly charge by 7 days. First, will the charge per day at Budget be computed by dividng the weekly by 7 even if I don't rent for a week? Second, why weren't my bids accepted when they were actually even higher thatn the Budget charge? I know, I wouldn't want to pay more... but I assumed the daily charge was higher. Thank you!

No, if you return the car early you won't receive any credit or refund for the unused days. If renting directly thru the rental company, if you book a weekly rate and return the car early they can adjust your bill to the (more expensive) daily rate.

If i'm understanding your post correctly you're not comparing apples-to-apples... you can't compare 4 x the daily rate vs. 57% (ie- 4 days our of 7) of the weekly rate. There are times when the total when booking for 7 days is actually less then then total when booking for 4 days... but that's just the nature of rental car pricing, which tries to maximize revenue from business travelers (who typically book for 4 days or less and for midweek days) and attract business from leisure travelers (who usually book for 5-7 days and include weekends)
