swdke Posted April 11, 2011 Report Posted April 11, 2011 I need a room in Washington DC from May 7 to May 9, 2011. Prefer 4*, else 3.5-3* Looking to pay $90 per night + tax, or less. Prefer to say near Smithsonian Museums, which I assume might be the White House-Downtown, or Capital Hill areas. Or is there a better suggestion for best area near Smithsonian? I do see on Hotwire a 4* hotel being offered for $89 in the White House Downtown-Capital Hill area that I am tempted to buy, but wish I knew which hotel it might be. Ammenities listed for this hotel are:Fitness CenterRestaurantBusiness CenterHigh-Speed Internet AccessSpa Services. The Tripadvisor customer rating is stated to be "3.5 out 5" which made me skeptical about this hotel. I guess I'd prefer a brand name hotel, and if this is such, I'd be interested in bidding. After reviewing on these boards, I am thinking this hote might be the Capital Hilton which would be fine with me. Based on above information, could it another hotel? To add: I did bid via Priceline for 4* category up to $89 for the White House Downtown, Capital Hill area, but bid was rejected. I guess I was surprised as I was figuring that I'd get the 4* hotel being offered on Hotwire once I bidded up to $89. Either Priceline is not matching, or maybe the 4* Hotwire offer at $89 is not the same as a Priceline 4*?Any advice for what this hotel might be, or on bidding? I do have time between now and May 7, not sure if I should bid now, or wait? Thanks for any help and recommendations.
swdke Posted April 11, 2011 Author Report Posted April 11, 2011 Okay, I decided to go ahead and go for the HOTWIRE offer, and for the $89 rate, the "secret" hotel was the Capital Hilton, which was what I was hoping for. I a happy.

abillmann Posted April 21, 2011 Report Posted April 21, 2011 Last week I booked the EXACT same hotel for the EXACT same dates through Hotwire but paid $95. Actually, the rate is now listed at $85. I know this because of the "New Lower Rates in Washington D.C." email that Hotwire sent yesterday. Thanks for rubbing it in guys, especially when I'm a Hotwire Express member!
puck71 Posted April 22, 2011 Report Posted April 22, 2011 I just jumped on this offer too. Same hotel, but for 5/6-5/9, $85 a night. Seems like a pretty sweet deal to me!
