wh17ney Posted April 11, 2011 Report Posted April 11, 2011 I have never used priceline before but am hoping to save some money on my hotel stay in NYC. I am travelling to NYC (with three other people) from May 17-21. We will need two rooms. Two people coming w/ me are in their late 50

thereuare Posted April 12, 2011 Report Posted April 12, 2011 As i'm sure you're finding rates are very high for these dates. You can try for a 4* hotel but my guess is that you're $200/nite budget will fall a bit short (i'd also consider adding ESB to your 4* bidding if you think that zone would work for your needs... this might also increase your chances of winning a 4* hotel at $200 or under)If you then decide to lower your star rating to 3.5* there are a few caveats to the zones you've selected:CPS - has the Hudson Hotel, which while in a good location, has notoriously small rooms (even by NYC standards). As well, the hotel is a 'scene' so it may not be the type of hotel the couple in their 50's is looking forMTE - at 3.5* and under some hotels in this zone can be up to a 15 minute walk to the subwayThe above may be fine for some and not fine for others, so you need to decide if these are factors which should keep you from bidding these zones. As well, at the 3.5* level i'd also recommend including the MSG zone in your bidding... it's fairly well located, typically easy access to subways, and often offers some good value relative to other nearby zones.Feel free to ask questions based upon the above and/or let us know how you'd like to proceed and we'll move forward from there. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.
