bond316 Posted April 11, 2011 Report Posted April 11, 2011 Looking for the cheapest flight from any airport in NYC (JFK/LGA/EWR) even Long Island, NY (ISP) to LAS. Departing 6/10/11 and Returning 6/12/11.Does bidding usually gives flights with connections right? Direct flights are rare?I am unfamiliar with the flight bidding process. Thanks for the help!
thereuare Posted April 11, 2011 Report Posted April 11, 2011 At the very least you need to be prepared for a connecting flight, and as there are more connecting flights then direct flights, i would say the odds are better then 50/50 you'll have a connection.Give the short duration of this trip, and that you can't choose your departure or return time in order to maximize your time in Vegas, how much would you need to save to make an opaque purchase worthwhile? What is the best rate you're currently able to find on this route? Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. bond316 Posted April 12, 2011 Author Report Posted April 12, 2011 Right now via kayak the best price with one stop is about $469 and non-stop is $548...seems like an opaque purchase just wouldn't work out for a short trip and the time difference of vegas and ny.What type of discount is realistic? 30%?
thereuare Posted April 12, 2011 Report Posted April 12, 2011 There are so many variables which go into airfare pricing that's hard to say what an accepted bid price would likely be, but i will say that in the current environment a 30% discount would be considered 'pretty good' if you could get that... although given this is a short weekend trip the constraints put on bidding for an opaque ticket may not be best for your plans. PRICELINE did have something which guaranteed at least xx hours on the ground in your destination city, but i can't seem to see anything in the FAQ at the moment so i don't know if this policy is still in place or not.Let us know if you'd like to move forward and, if so, we'll advise accordingly. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. bond316 Posted April 13, 2011 Author Report Posted April 13, 2011 Thanks for the help, I think I'll just try to look for vouchers or something...
