Long time lurker, first time poster.

I've been scrambling for the longest time on this dilemma and perhaps someone would be able to resolve my difficulty.

I am in a search for either a 3*, 3.5*, or 4* for MTE from Thursday 04/28/11 until Sunday 05/01/11. Price my friends and I are willing to spend is about $100-250 a night (preferrably less).

We have 4 people in our party and in the past I would bid for a room, then make a request for TWO double beds and we move on with our lives (Made request at Planet Hollywood, in LV in 2008). But NY is small and the hotel rooms are even SMALLER (Just stayed at Club Quarter in Downtown 2 weeks ago) and I am really fretting that if I bid, my request for TWO double beds would be denied.

My options are:

1) Bid for 1 room and request for TWO double Beds (preferred if I could guarantee my request gets accepted)

2) Bid for 2 rooms but pay for 2 room price

3) Purchase from Hotwire and dictate 4 people (About 230-260/night)

4) Purchase a room outright with the option for TWO double beds. (Same as Option #3)

I've done my due research and have found that most poster on the forum have won with:

4*

W Hotel

Inter-Continental-Barclay

Omni Berkshire

Grand Hyatt

3.5*

Hilton

Kimberly Hotel

3*

Beekman

Affinia

Radison Lexington

My question is whether anyone have made a request for TWO double beds and have had the request granted?

My second question is whether I should bid in another area? MTE seems rather pricey. I got Club Quarter two weeks ago for $105/night. But I chose Financial District then because my work was nearby. Now that I'm going to NY for leisure, we want to be situated in a better location.

I've already bid:

MTE:

4* 105 - Rejected

3.5* 110 - Rejected

3* 120 - Rejected

Any advice and/or suggestion would be greatly appreciated. :)

Welcome to Betterbidding. :)

The issue with NYC is that it's quite difficult to get two beds when using the discount services - enough so that we do not recommend using PRICELINE if more than 1 bed is a requirement. HOTWIRE, where you can search for 4 people, is the best option. Rooms in NYC are small, rooms with one bed far outnumber those with two (and as a result most two bed rooms cost an added premium) and hotels are likely to not honor requests for two beds. You can offer to negotiate with the hotel, but there's no guarantee they will do that.

While things often change substantially from day-to-day in NYC due to fluctuations in traffic, MTE and ESB are often the most expensive zones in NYC.

Rates are definitely going to be higher in the Spring than they are during the end of March and beginning of April - two rooms are going to add up in terms of a bid via PRICELINE, but will offer more space and two bathrooms; one room via HOTWIRE will be cheaper overall, but will offer quite a bit less space. Bidding for one room only in NYC really risks one bed.

Thank you for using the site's hot.re or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.
