AaronJB Posted April 8, 2011 Report Posted April 8, 2011 In the NMA, the rather unique Food Life food court in the Water Tower mall is an appealing choice (more info here); there's a lot of family-friendly choices (Portillo's, Ed Debevics, although I was definitely more a fan of the latter as a kid than I am as an adult) in the River North area, which is an easy walk. Navy Pier is the most popular family-friendly attraction, but I really recommend the combination of the Lincoln Park Zoo and the Peggy Notabert Nature Center, both of which are right next to each other in the Lincoln Park area. The other family-friendly restaurant that I recommend is the Flat Top Grill; there are two locations downtown (it is a mid-sized chain), one in the Loop and one up towards Lincoln Park; that is a build-your-own stir fry - you pull together your choice of ingredients and then they fry it up for you and bring it to your table - when done, you can go back. You can read more about it here. The 4.5* Mag Mile would be a possible match for the Intercontinental or Conrad; The 4* Mag Mile could be a number of different properties - the Westin River North, Hyatt, Sheraton and Hard Rock are among the possibilities. The 4* NMA has also been seen with a number of different possibilities including the Whitehall, Omni, Westin MA, Drake, Knickerbocker, Avenue, Allerton and Sutton Place. While not a 4*, I am seeing a 3.5* NMA-Water Tower-GC w/fitness, restaurant, business, internet, pool for $68, which would be a possible match for the Hilton Suites, which is right off Michigan ave and a block from Water Tower. I'll also suggest the Embassy Suites Lakefront, which is $99 via Expedia (+$10 extra person fee), then coupon code BRIGHT11 takes $10 off per night, so $99. Free breakfast/evening reception.Thank you for using the site's HOTWIRE, PRICELINE or Expedia links to start your purchases and searches.
