Sustaine Posted April 7, 2011 Report Posted April 7, 2011 Researched - (Lowest prices on Expedia Wednesday sale showed best price for downtown Boston Omni for $152)First Bid today $85 for 4 star in Copley Square - bzzzzt - rejected - ran to yoga classRebid up to $100 (added in Brookline, Medford, then added in Findlay none of which have a 4*) limit of my priceAdded in Quincy Market and got Hyatt Regency Boston for 100 for two nightsNOTE: this is my first post so I hope I entered the information correctly.. I bid very quickly using a martix (added areas that didn't have 4 star hotels) as I only have 2 days till the trip and little time to spend bidding and really wanted Copley but am fine with Quincy Market - Faneuil Hall - Financial What should I have done different if anything? PRICELINE:Topic Title: Star Rating, City (and sub-region if appropriate), Hotel NameTopic Description: Dates of Stay and Price Paid per nightPost: bid history (if first bidding attempt was rejected), taxes paid from the Priceline accepted bid page, date hotel was booked if different than posting date, any other pertinent info
yellowdog Posted April 7, 2011 Report Posted April 7, 2011 Welcome to BetterBidding and congratulations on your success!Thank you for sharing your result with the board :) What should I have done different if anything?Just follow the guidelines for re-bidding in this link Priceline Re-Bidding Explained and you'll be fine. I don't know is this is "last minute trip", otherwise give yourself some more time to bid. But your bidding looks ok to me.Enjoy your stay. Please use the site's HOTWIRE and PRICELINE links to start future purchases.Yellowdog.
thereuare Posted April 7, 2011 Report Posted April 7, 2011 Rebid up to $100 (added in Brookline, Medford, then added in Findlay none of which have a 4*) limit of my priceAdded in Quincy Market and got Hyatt Regency Boston for 100 for two nights...What should I have done different if anything? One improvement on your bidding is to closed the browser and started lower when you added Quincy Market to the bidding. Since Quincy Market has 4* or higher rated hotels, it's a 'live' zone, and not a 're-bid' zone... so by adding it to the end of your bidding you never gave yourself a chance to win this zone at lower rated. Hope this makes sense, but if not, feel free to ask any questions.Feel free to ask for help before making your next opaque purchase. Thanks for sharing your PRICELINE win with the board.Enjoy your stay.
