minnie22 Posted April 7, 2011 Report Posted April 7, 2011 Hi all,I will be going to NYC form June 2nd-5th. This is not my first time visiting NYC, however I am unsure where I want to stay. I figured I might give bidding a shot. Now my price range is anywhere from 100-250 per night including taxes etc. I'd like anywhere from a 3*-4.5* star. Now I am interested in the Empire Hotel, is it safe to assume that bidding on a UWS 4* the Empire is what I will get? I do not want to risk being too far into the UWS. I am open to various options, any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!-L

thereuare Posted April 8, 2011 Report Posted April 8, 2011 You can't bid on a specific hotel when using PRICELINE, you have to be able to accept any hotel in the zone at the star level (or higher) that you choose. While the Empire Hotel may be the only 4* hotel reported to the board in this zone, there could be others, and you could be the first to reported a new hotel (or a hotel previously reported but which has now been upgraded to the 4* level)With HOTWIRE you can often take an educated guess as to what is being offered based upon the amenities associated with the property, but it's still a 'best guess' and no guarantees you will receive the hotel you're hoping for. As well, HOTWIRE only shows one hotel at each star level per zone, so there is a chance the hotel you're hoping for isn't the one which is offered for your particular dates. If you're looking for a specific hotel you may ultimately be disappointed with what you receive, if on the other hand your plans are flexible, you could get a great deal on a hotel of the star quality you choose.Let us know how you'd like to proceed and we'll try to be of further help. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.
