eurotravel Posted April 4, 2011 Report Posted April 4, 2011 Success! Using your bidding strategy (see my earlier priceline win) I started at $80.00 and worked my way up. On the second bid of the $100.00 level I received a counter offer to add $30.00. I tried bidding around this using my free re-bid and adding $5.00 with no success. On the second bid of the $105.00 level I received the same offer which I ignored. On the first bid of the $110.00 I had success. This is what I won.Marriott Maida Vale5/9/2011 thru 5/12/20113 nights @ $110/night$406.56 for the stayTheir advanced purchase price is approx $282.00/night, so a savings of $146.00/night. Based on my earlier success getting the Marriott Regents Park for $100.00/ night my average for my six nights in London is $105.00. Certainly better than my $125.00 maximum. And TripAdvisor rates both hotels very high.I did A LOT of looking at hotels, mainly because I wanted a back-up plan in the event I didn't get a PRICELINE win. Even at $150.00/night there is a lot of junk out there so have a plan and stick to it. If I had too, I would have bid even higher knowing that any PRICELINE win of a 4* would give me better quality than a 3* at $150.00 or more per night. Thanks again to this site for all of your help. I will save this strategy for future use.
