s_messica Posted May 3, 2005 Report Posted May 3, 2005 HiI am new to priceline and have no idea where to start. I want to be in new york between may 12-20, and need a place to stay. I don't care about location or star rating. Price is my only concern. I don't know how to start bidding...I am a little confused. Do I start at a higher star rating, so then I can continue bidding by just lowering the star rating. Do I also start by choosing one area instaed of all of them, and then adding an area to rebid. I am trying to find the best strategy so that I can keep on rebidding. I also don't know what price I should start with. I am on a tight budget (if I dont find something really cheap, I will shorten my stay). Is $30 a night way too low?Very confused!I would appreciate any help I can get!
thereuare Posted May 3, 2005 Report Posted May 3, 2005 Welcome to BetterBidding! For NYC and priceline i don't even think you're close. If you really don't care about your accomodations check out EasyClickTravel which has some dormitory and/or shared bath accomodations for under $30/nite.Let us know if the above suits your needs or if you want to pursue other options. s_messica Posted May 3, 2005 Author Report Posted May 3, 2005 Do you have any idea what would be the minimum price I could put down for a chance to get a room for that period of time?
s_messica Posted May 3, 2005 Author Report Posted May 3, 2005 I checked the eadyclicktravel sight, and the cheapest rate is going at $77 a night (I don't mind the shared bath). Isn't it possible that priceline will give me one of those options, but at a lower cost ($40-$50/night)?
thereuare Posted May 3, 2005 Report Posted May 3, 2005 Chelsea International for $24/nite.Manhattan Inn Hostel for $29/nite.Priceline doesn't deal with hostels/dorms (at least i've never seen one), so they would not come up thru Priceline. s_messica Posted May 3, 2005 Author Report Posted May 3, 2005 I am not looking for a dorm/hostel. I am looking for a private room (don't mind a shared bath). I saw some of those for $77, so I was thinking that priceline might have it for a cheaper price.
thereuare Posted May 3, 2005 Report Posted May 3, 2005 You can try bidding under that price as you having nothing to lose, but your chances of success for an 8 day stay are low (and i would question the 'comfort' of the accomodations you might get).
