Mayiyan Posted April 2, 2011 Report Posted April 2, 2011 Hello there!I'm new over here and to the whole Priceline experience. I want to book hotels for two dates: from 4/21 to 4/23 (only my mother will be staying those two nights) and from 4/24 to 5/01 (my mom and I). We can pay at most $150 with taxes per night for the second period, and my mom would like to spend not more than $100 per night for the first period. Since it is our first time in the city, we have no idea about which areas are the best to stay at or to look for the best prices.Could you give us a hand?Oh! I tried for the first period to bid from $70 to $95 in the Downtown area (since I saw many winning bids for $80 over there) and had no luck :).

Mayiyan Posted April 3, 2011 Author Report Posted April 3, 2011 Just checked with her, she's willing to go up to $200! (she realized that if she wanted clean and comfy rooms, $100 with taxes wouldn't do :))And I'll open the new thread right now :).
thereuare Posted April 3, 2011 Report Posted April 3, 2011 Rates are very high for these dates... what is the minimum star rating you're willing to accept?Would a hotel a 15 minute walk to the subway be acceptable? What about a well located hotel but with notoriously small rooms?Let us know the above and we'll be in a better position to suggest a strategy for you to follow. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. Mayiyan Posted April 3, 2011 Author Report Posted April 3, 2011 What about a hotel with a 15 minute walk to the subway? The closest to the subway, the best.
thereuare Posted April 3, 2011 Report Posted April 3, 2011 Of course closest is best, but for some people 15 minutes it too far... while for others it's perfectly acceptable. The question is for you (and your mom), is a 15 minute walk to the subway acceptable? If so, then there are certain zones we can include in the bidding... if not, there are certain zones we need to exclude from the bidding. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.
