markincleveland Posted April 1, 2011 Report Posted April 1, 2011 I'm looking for a starting bid on 1 room, I greatly prefer 3 star, in E. Lancing Mi on 4/29 (Sorry I know you are U of M) I'm there for a seminar, but I know it is a tough night because MSU's spring inter squad football game is on Saturday -I'm looking for Friday night. marriot.com does not show the E. Lansing property available on 4/29Hotwire has only 2 and 2-1/2 star and they don't look so hot to me . . . . I afraid that if I play around, both 3-stars will be out of priceline before I get a room. The marriot.com regular price for the room is 149.95 on other dates
markincleveland Posted April 1, 2011 Author Report Posted April 1, 2011 I am looking for a 3-star room in East Lansing, MI on 4/29. Although I am there for a seminar, it is a tough night; the spring inter-squad football game is the next day (only game of the spring practice season). Both the Marriott and Staybridge, the properties shown on the betterbidding hotel list, are sold out on their respective websites. I'd like to pay $100 or less. On their respective websites the Staybridge is normally $129 and the Marriott is $149 ($127 senior discount). I'd rather not stay in My meeting is in th Marriot in E. LansingI'll stay in Lansiing if I absolutely need to, but would greatly prefer to be in E. Lansing. Suggestions of where to start?

markincleveland Posted April 1, 2011 Author Report Posted April 1, 2011 Have you tried any bidding yet? Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. No I haven't bid yet, I was looking for advice where to start. I will definitely use your links to bid . . do you have a suggestion?
thereuare Posted April 1, 2011 Report Posted April 1, 2011 With no re-bid zones not too much finessing can be done, but i'd suggest starting at $50 and increasing by $5 every 24 hours. This will bring you up to your limit in less then 10 days which should still leave you enough time to re-group if you're turned down. I would suggest booking a back-up reservation in the meantime just to protect yourself from rates moving even higher. If you feel that 10 days from now you'll be panicking a bit if you haven't won a hotel (some people like their plans firm at least 3 months in advance... some are fine not having plans 3 hours in advance) then the earlier bids you can go up by $10 rather than $5.Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Good luck, keep us updated and let us know how it goes.
