Dear All - I am very grateful to each of you for the tips and tricks on how to bid.

I used your link to PRICELINE.com - and have been bidding for the past 24 hours.

I am up to $100/night and have not been able to get a confirmation...

I have used the common tricks of adding Areas that don't have a 4star rated hotel.

I want to end up in the Fort Lauderdale Beach area...in a 4star.

Any tips on WHAT PRICE I should bid? I have 24 hours to think this through, as I can bid tomorrow - April Fool's Day!

Thanks!!

The best price through conventional channels is north of $200. I was hoping to spend more like $100/night to get a decent 4* with adequate amenities (pool, gym, nice buffet breakfast [my wife's favorite meal of the day]). Perhaps if I change my bidding strategy and choose another area?

I want to be close to the Airport/Port Everglades cruise terminal...and not have to pay for parking.

Any bidding suggestions are much much appreciated.

Thanks!

You have the downtown zone you can try. This is the closest zone if you don't want to stay in the beach zone.

But things like free parking and buffet breakfast is on your expense. So please budget for this.

If you're trying to target a specific property then HOTWIRE can often be a better option if you're successfully able to identify it based upon the star rating and amenities shown before your purchase... the trade-off is that HOTWIRE usually costs a little more than PRICELINE, so you need to decide what is most important to you for a given stay, the lowest possible price OR the ability to take an educated guess as to the property you may receive.

Let us know how you would like to proceed and we can help you further.

Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.

So I ended up rebidding, and received for $90/night the Hyatt Regency Bonaventure, located in the West Fort Lauderdale, Sawgrass Mills Area.

Thanks for your help.

Much appreciated.
