mlab Posted March 31, 2011 Report Posted March 31, 2011 Hi,I'm looking for a 3.5* or 4* hotel in NYC for Easter weekend (April 21st until April 24th, staying 3 nights). My friend and I both know our way around the city but we'd ideally like to be close-ish to SoHo as this is where we'll be spending most of our time (Chelsea, Downtown/SoHo or ESB). No interest in being near Time Square or Central Park.My priority would be to get a 4* hotel with a max budget of $150/night (pre-tax) but from what I understand, this doesn't seem very likely considering it's Easter weekend...?I would be willing to go with 3.5* if I can't find a 4* within my price range but in this case I'd rather exclude downtown/soho as my understanding is that the likely cheap downtown 3.5* hotel is CQ and I'd rather avoid it if possible (too to the South for our tastes). Not sure what the budget could be for a 3.5* (obviously not 150/night) so I'm guessing maybe between $80-$120?Thanks in advance for your help!
thereuare Posted March 31, 2011 Report Posted March 31, 2011 Welcome to BetterBidding! Please start by reading your messages. It appear that you have already look at the zone boundaries and realize that Downtown is much larger than just Soho, and if you bid this area, you could end up anywhere within the shaded boundaries of the zone? If so, to confirm, you want to begin by trying for a 4* hotel in either the Chelsea, Downtown or ESB zones?Assuming this is correct, i would bid as follows:At the 4* level you have SIX re-bid zones. If you're not familiar with re-bidding please read Priceline Re-Bidding Explained and feel free to ask questions and/or confirm your re-bid zones with the board before proceeding.Select 4* Chelsea, DT and ESB...Bid $120, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $125, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $130, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $135, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $140, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $145, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $150Any questions feel free to ask. I assume the above will be too low, but we can start there and if indeed rejected, then weigh your options at the 3.5* level. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Good luck and let us know how it goes. Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
