evawawa Posted March 31, 2011 Report Posted March 31, 2011 Hi I have booked flight ticket goning to NEW York on 2nd -7th June this is the 1st time going to NY by myself, dont know where to stay in and which district will be better em my budget is @150 per night (including tax) for 3.5* + hotel dont know if it is possible to get a room in manhattan with that price? and when should I start bidding? Thank you :)
thereuare Posted March 31, 2011 Report Posted March 31, 2011 Welcome to BetterBidding!$150 all-in is equivalent to about a $125 bid price on PRICELINE, and unfortunately i don't think that is going to be enough for a 3.5* or better for these dates. We can suggest a strategy to try, but what is the best rate you're able to find at an acceptable hotel for this stay? If not successful, do you have room to increase your budget or would you sooner lower your star rating or stay on the outskirts of the city? evawawa Posted March 31, 2011 Author Report Posted March 31, 2011 My budget max will be $200 and can you teach me the stategy for getting the best rate bid
thereuare Posted April 1, 2011 Report Posted April 1, 2011 At the 3.5* level the following zones typically work well for the average user:MTW, TS, MSG and ESBThe following zones may be ok depending upon your thoughts on the following:MTE - a few hotels at the 3.5* level and under can be a 15 minute walk to the subway, would this be acceptable?CPS - contains the Hudson Hotel which is a 'scene' but also has notoriously small rooms (even by NYC standards) would this be acceptable? Please look at the zones above and their boundaries on the PRICELINE map and let us know which zones you find acceptable, we'll then be able to suggest a strategy for you to follow. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.
