cboice100 Posted March 31, 2011 Report Posted March 31, 2011 I am new to Priceline trying to get a 4* or 3.5* in Boston (Copley, Quincy, Aquarium) zones. Can someone please help me with a bidding strategy? My max bid amount is $125...is this too low for this time of year? ANy help would be appreciated! Please list strategy with how to do the rebids...I've really struggled with this one my own. Thanks again.
thereuare Posted March 31, 2011 Report Posted March 31, 2011 Welcome to BetterBidding! At the moment I think you're budget should be fine for a 3.5*... did you want to try for a 4* first up to your limit OR is your goal the least expensive 3.5* or better for this stay?As far as re-bidding goes, you need to know how to determine these on your own as they can change at any time, so they need to be checked before starting every bidding cycle. See this thread Priceline Re-Bidding Explained to see if you can determine your re-bid zones and confirm them with the board, we'll then suggest a strategy for you to follow (HINT: currently at the 4* and 3.5* levels you have FIVE re-bid zones)If you read the previous link and are confused just post back and we'll break it down further for you. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. cboice100 Posted March 31, 2011 Author Report Posted March 31, 2011 I think I would like to try for the least expensive 3.5*...what price do you think that'll be for my dates? The re-bidding zones I believe are Fenway, Medford, N. Cambridge, S. Boston, and Brighton. My guess is to start bidding on a 3.5* Copley at a certain price, if rejected add Fenway, if rejected add Medford...and so on and so forth will all re-bidding zones correct? So if my I have three "goal" zones for my 3.5* star hotel and I have 6 bids (1 original and 5 rebids) I should have a total of 18 bids for this correct? I hope I'm making sense...I just need help with a strategy for winning. Thanks for your help.On a side note...the main thing about re-bidding that I don't understand is when to close your browser and how this makes it possible for "extra" rebids....
thereuare Posted March 31, 2011 Report Posted March 31, 2011 Yes, you have your re-bid zones correct, but always double check them just before bidding to make sure that nothing has changed.HOTWIRE has a 3.5* hotel in the Back Bay zone for $105/nite so we'll use ~$100 as your maximum bid.Using your FIVE re-bid zones i would bid as follows:Select 3.5* Copley and QuincyBid $70, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $75, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $78, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $80, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $83, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $85, if rejected close browser and use this link to re-access PRICELINESelect 3.5* Aquarium...Bid $70, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $75, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $78, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $80, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $83, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $85, if rejected close browser and use this link to re-access PRICELINESelect 3.5* Copley, Quincy, and Aquarium...Bid $88, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $90, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $93, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $95, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $98, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $100Any questions feel free to ask. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Good luck and let us know how it goes.
