I'd love to know if anyone else who has won this hotel tried to upgrade their room to a suite and if so for how much.

I'd check the hotel website to see the price difference between their standard room and the room type you want... that would be a fair price for an upgrade if the hotel allows it. At check-in you can ask if any upgrades are available, they may say:

1) yes and do it complimentary

2) an upgrade is available at a fee of $xx (if below the difference in room rates as per above you can take it, if more, you can counter their offer with the difference you noted above, and explain to the clerk, "I see the difference between a standard room and the suite i'd like is $xx, i'd be willing to pay that amount, would that be ok?")

3) no upgrades are available (at which point you can inquire "What if i'm willing to pay more?"... then revert to #2 above)

Enjoy your stay.

FYI - The hotel does not allow any upgrades to other room types with priceline reservations. Doesn't make much sense, as they're basically turning away extra money from me, but I asked two different people and got the same answer. Unfortunately at this hotel if you want a room with 2 real beds it's only available as an 'upgrade', so we were stuck with 1 king. Thankfully, these are large rooms with full kitchens and there is a sofa with a pull-out bed which was actually pretty comfy as those go, so in the end it worked out and hey I saved an extra $100 by not being allowed to upgrade to the 2 bedroom suite.
