pato17 Posted March 30, 2011 Report Posted March 30, 2011 Hello there,I've submitted some bids unsuccessfully, and I've finally read up on instant re-bidding so I plan on trying this tonight. I'm looking for a 3-night stay from April 22-25 in Times Square or Midtown West at a 3 to 4* hotel. I'm new at this instant re-bidding so I'd appreciate your help!My initial thoughts are to select 3.5* and 4* in the TSQ and MTW regions first and then to use the following as instant re-bidding zones: Brooklyn, Coney Island, Queensborough, Upper East Side (going up by $5 increments?). I'd be willing to go for a 3* hotel, but I've read that it's impossible to uncheck regions - how should I go about doing this? Also, what would be a good starting bid? Would $180/night (tax included) be possible?Thank you!

pato17 Posted April 4, 2011 Author Report Posted April 4, 2011 I've unsuccessfully put in bids this past week with Times Square and Midtown West as my desired zones. For 3* bidding, I used Coney Island as my instant re-bid - my maximum bid so far has been $160. For 3.5* bidding, I used four instant re-bid zones and I believe my max bid so far has been $170.I'm thinking that I'll just settle for a 3* hotel due to the location TSQ and MTW. Since my max bid has been $160 for the star rating, am I being unrealistic? If I bid closer to the date (Easter long weekend), will my chances improve?
thereuare Posted April 4, 2011 Report Posted April 4, 2011 There is no telling if rates will go lower... or even higher... between now and your stay. See the related 'Bid Early or Close to Checkin' link in our PRICELINE FAQ for more info.Unfortunately, based upon current rates i don't think you're close to a win at $170 in these two zones... what is the best rate you're able to find thru conventional booking channels? Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.
