Hi,

This is our first visit to this great site!!

My wife and I will be coming to New York to stay two nights, the third week of May.

We have some flexibility re: dates...basically, the least expensive two consecutive nights, either 5/19-20, 5/20-21, 5/21-22, 5/22-23, whatever the most affordable is.

We're looking to stay in a relatively convenient area, TSQ/MTW/MTE/MSG/ESB/CPS.

Financial District is also an option if it's cheaper, as our son lives on Wall St, but obviously there's much less to do down there, although taking the subway or cab to get around isn't a problem

Would like to be max of $150/night, if possible

We'd prefer a 3* or better, but we're not too picky (as long as we're not sharing a bathroom, and it's not too far of a walk to the subway).

Do prices tend to be less during the week, or on weekends?

Does it make sense to bid now, or wait until it gets closer to the date, in the hope of getting a lower rate?

Thanks

Welcome to BetterBidding!

Historically this is a busy time in NYC and at the moment i'm seeing a couple of hotels which are priced lower then expected, so i would begin bidding now... prices could always come down, but my guess is that there is more risk is to prices moving higher rather than lower.

You mention that Downtown is do-able but no preferable, are you willing to pay a little more for a midtown vs. Downtown... or does price ultimately prevail and the least expensive hotel is the one you want? (even if it's downtown)

Using your PRICELINE link, I bid on a 4* in TSQ for May 21 and May 22.

Bid for $190 for both Saturday and Sunday was accepted by the New York Marriott Marquis (which seems like a heck of a deal, considering the "listed" prices start at $449)

Thanks so much for providing such a helpful site :)
