jellybeans Posted March 29, 2011 Report Posted March 29, 2011 Hi,My boyfriend and I have been bidding on priceline for a 4* hotel in Union Square East and West. It's been a couple days now that we've bidding and we keep getting rejected. Our last bid was $150. On the "Calendar of Wins" link, I notice that someone has won a bid for a 4* in USW for May 18 to 21 for $135, which means that there is a 4* hotel available.. I'm not sure why our bids keep getting rejected. Is there any trick to winning a low bid? Thanks!
thereuare Posted March 29, 2011 Report Posted March 29, 2011 Welcome to BetterBidding!I notice that someone has won a bid for a 4* in USW for May 18 to 21 for $135, which means that there is a 4* hotel available..More specifically it means:1) there was a hotel available... the hotel the other user won may have raised or pulled their PRICELINE rate if the hotel began to get more reservations and higher occupancy2) perhaps the nite of 5/17 is more expensive then the other nites and therefore the other user won for 5/18-5/21, whereas you're getting turned away based upon the more expensive nite of 5/17 being included in your date rangeI think possibility #2 may be a factor, is SPLITTING YOUR PRICELINE BID an option? Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. jellybeans Posted March 30, 2011 Author Report Posted March 30, 2011 That's a possibility. I guess I'll just try bidding for May 18 to 21; and then do another bid for May 17. I'll try this and see what I get. Thanks a lot!

Gallus50 Posted March 31, 2011 Report Posted March 31, 2011 Hey JB - Not sure what's happening w/your bidding, but LMT does have some nice options at relatively reasonable prices. Looks like they have the Hyatt Embarcadero @ around $142, and the Clift from 5/18 on for $132. If bidding goes well, great. If not, take a good look at LMT>
jellybeans Posted June 25, 2012 Author Report Posted June 25, 2012 Just to give everyone an update. I was able to book Parc 55 Wyndham San Francisco through PRICELINE. The hotel was right in downtown in a very convenient location. Winning bid was for $165 per night, which was higher than what I wanted but the location and the hotel was fantastic. So no regrets there. Thanks for the help/comments/inputs everyone!
