Hi,

I just registered onto this forum today and am completely brand new to forums, so please bear with me if I don't follow etiquette properly! :)

I'm planning a trip for two people to New York from October 21 to 28 and wanted to see if I could get a better deal on Priceline than booking through more conventional means.

I'm looking for a hotel that's 3.5* or higher and I'm hoping not to spend more than $250 per night (but obviously, lower is better!)

Ideally, I wanted a hotel in the following Priceline areas:

Central Park South

Midtown West

Times Square - Theatre District

(While these are my top choices, I'm really just looking for a central location near a subway station)

Also, I understand that NY hotels rarely have two beds so barring that, I would really like to have a room that has at least a Queen-sized bed (and a King would be even better). I know that Priceline only offers rooms with double occupancy but are they usually Queen-sized beds or larger? If there's a good chance of me getting a double bed, I probably will book hotel-direct or thru Expedia or Travelocity.

Any advice or tips you guys can give me would be awesome! Thanks!

Welcome to Betterbidding. :)

The issue with PRICELINE (and HOTWIRE, although occasionally HOTWIRE has a "bed choice" listing) is that you cannot select a particular bed type. In terms of NYC, rooms at many NYC properties - even upscale properties at the 3.5/4* level - are often small, with some rooms as small as 130-160 sq ft, so there is definitely a chance for a small bed. PRICELINE wouldn't be a good option, as you could possibly wind up at any property in a particular zone at the star level you bid on. HOTWIRE would definitely not be without risk, but you can make an educated guess as to which hotels are showing and would be able to try to find a hotel whose overall (not just for those days, but what the hotel lists as general options) inventory/options appears to include only queen and up.

Thank you for using the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.
