AaronJB Posted March 28, 2011 Report Posted March 28, 2011 Welcome to Betterbidding. :)The 4* has not yet been ID'd/reported to the board. The Palomar might a possibility (although I would think it would be w/boutique), or possibly a downgraded James. The 4.5* Mag Mile is possibly the Intercontinental or Conrad.Thank you for using the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.
bajbuzz Posted March 29, 2011 Report Posted March 29, 2011 I don't think that the 4* could be the James....the James is not a smoke free property, correct?
jacqsk Posted March 29, 2011 Author Report Posted March 29, 2011 Thanks for your help!We ended up booking the 4.5* in Magnificent Mile - Streeterville for $119/night - recommended in 90% of customer reviews- Smoke Free Rooms- Fitness Center- Restaurant(s)- Business Center- High-Speed Internet Access It was the InterContinental.... located at 505 North Michigan Avenue.I think we'll be happy with the location! Thanks again!
AaronJB Posted March 29, 2011 Report Posted March 29, 2011 Congrats on your success. :)Excellent deal for this (very) well-located property, which has a rather neat history (Intercontinental Chicago Wikipedia/History)Thank you for sharing your win and please use the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.Enjoy your stay.
bajbuzz Posted March 30, 2011 Report Posted March 30, 2011 Interesting....the Intercontinental's website states that there are 792 guest rooms, 720 of which are non-smoking. So it is not, technically, a "smoke free property". I thought that's what the amenity icon meant...
yellowdog Posted March 30, 2011 Report Posted March 30, 2011 bajbuzz,So it is not, technically, a "smoke free property". I thought that's what the amenity icon meant...The smoke free icon indicates that the room you're booking is smoke free, not the property. Yellowdog. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. That's not what the folks at Hotwire told me when I posed the question to them through a Chat session. They said it was indicative of a smoke free property. I 'm pretty sure I was clear to them in my question on distinguishing "smoke free room" vs. "smoke free property".
thereuare Posted March 31, 2011 Report Posted March 31, 2011 I'm not surprised with the confusion... when the smoke free icon was first introduced, i believe it did state 'smoke free property'. However, the smoke free icon now reads:Smoke Free RoomsGuest rooms at this hotel are always smoke-free.Even the current description can be somewhat vague... if a hotel has a few rooms that are smoking, and HOTWIRE has an agreement with the hotel that rooms booked thru HOTWIRE will always be for a non-smoking room, does this room qualify for the Smoke Free icon? (ie- all guest rooms at the hotel are not smoke free, but all rooms at the hotel booked for hotwire guests are indeed smoke free)Basically the icon is used to inform a guest that they can book the hotel and not have to worry about being assigned a smoking room, so i don't have an issue with the icon being used in this manner, but i could see how it can cause confusion. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.
