Hotwire Hotel: 3.5* NYC (MTC) Jewel

I'm going to be attending a conference in May at the New York Hilton and would like to stay close by but also be close to theater and other attractions. Is it unreasonable to bid $80 for a 3 1/2 star in CPS, MTW or Times Square? If not, what area would you suggest that is close by or what is are reasonable bid for that area. What are the hotels that have lower star ratings like in those areas? I'm willing to take a lower star as long as it is safe and clean. Also, what is the cancellation policy with Priceline?

Spring is one of the busiest times of the year in NYC and prices are on the high side, unfortunately and a winning bid in Midtown at the 3.5*/4* levels will likely take quite a bit higher. What would be your desired max budget per night? The PRICELINE hotels in NYC that have been reported to the board (there may be others not yet reported) can be found in this Priceline Hotel list.

You're going to nee to make a decision between price and convenience... to stay at a 3.5* in midtown will likely cost you close to $150-$200... HOTWIRE has a 3.5* Downtown for $113. At the moment this Downtown property will likely be your best bang for your buck... but also less convenient to your midtown conference and/or theater.

Hotwire is offering $180 for a 3 1/2 star in MTC for May 11 - 16 and the tripadvisor rating is 3.5. I'd love some help identifying this hotel. Also, is this a good deal for this area during that time or should I wait? Thanks

I don't know if this is the same hotel, but now there is 3 1/2 star MTC for $121 with Restaurants, Internet, and Business centre. I can't seem to find a trip advisor rating for this one. I can't seem to find the one that was offered yesterday either. Any ideas?

I'm currently seeing a 3.5* in the MTC zone with Fitness, Restaurant, Internet... is this that you're seeing?

If so, this matches both the Manhattan Centre Hotel and the Club Quarters Midtown, so either of these would be my best guess for this one. However, note that these amenities are common for a city hotel so it could also be something else, but i'll add that this property is a very good deal for a midtown hotel for these dates, imo.

Thanks for the feedback. Unfortunately, I waited too long and that price is now gone. I'm going to take my chances and wait a bit longer to see if a similar deal shows up.

I just booked a 3 1/2* with Hotwire in MTC - The Jewel for $132/night from May 11 - 16. $827 with tax and insurance. Not as good a rate and yesterday but still quite happy!
