michellel Posted March 28, 2011 Report Posted March 28, 2011 So, I had a cute little hotel all picked out and loved it. Something has come up, and I need to shave a huge chunk off of the budget. So, to priceline I go. :)I really have my heart set on the Latin Quarter, so I'd like to work in that direction for now, though I'd truthfully probably be happy with anything in zones 3, 4, 6, or 7. I would like to bid no more than 110 a night, since I still have to factor in fees.My dates are October 15-October 17, 2011.I'm hoping for 3* or above. Thanks for your help :)

michellel Posted March 29, 2011 Author Report Posted March 29, 2011 I've read the only message in there, and I plan to use the PRICELINE link when it's time to purchase.I'm just looking for advice on the specific trip?
thereuare Posted March 29, 2011 Report Posted March 29, 2011 Did you want to begin by only bidding for the Latin Quarter up to your limit... or is your goal the least expensive hotel in any of your acceptable zones? Please also list the zones by PRICELINE name, not by number, since the order of the zones will change if/when they're renamed or new zones are added. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. michellel Posted March 29, 2011 Author Report Posted March 29, 2011 Okay :)Let's see. The zones are...Champs Elysees - Opera Quarter WestEiffel Tower - Port de Versailles - MontparnasseOpera Quarter East - Las Hallesand the most desired isSt. Germain - Latin Quarter - MontparnasseAnd I suppose I'd rather win in the Latin Quarter and only branch out if I can't get something in that zone for an acceptable price.
thereuare Posted March 30, 2011 Report Posted March 30, 2011 So to confirm... you only want to bid the Latin Quarter up to your $110 limit, then if that is rejected you then want to consider the other three zones? Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. michellel Posted March 30, 2011 Author Report Posted March 30, 2011 Yes, I think that's what I'm trying to say. ;-D
flospy Posted March 30, 2011 Report Posted March 30, 2011 Looks like several folks are winning Marriott Rive Gauche (4* Latin Quarter) within your budget, but I'm not sure if that's the price you'll get for October. You have plenty of time to rebid if you aren't finding what you like. If you already know that you are willing to forgo the charm, there seem to be many affordable hotels in the Latin Quarter. Good Luck.
thereuare Posted March 30, 2011 Report Posted March 30, 2011 Based upon current prices I think this will be a tough win in the Latin Quarter, but you can give it a try.At the 4* you have NO re-bid zones, so you can simply select 4* Latin Quarter, bid $80 (suggested starting point simply because you have time on your side, although probably not much of a chance until $100, but even that not very likely for these dates) and then increase $5 every 24 hours until you reach your $110 limit in 5-6 days. Assuming that is rejected, we'll then be able to include the other zones and create a more advanced strategy for you to follow. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Good luck and keep us updated.
