PierreC Posted March 27, 2011 Report Posted March 27, 2011 Hello its me again :o Now for the last portion of my trip i just tried april 14-16 starting with a 3 stars, trying all the regions individually, going as high as 110 dollars...but got denied ! :) So tough this Amsterdam ! :)

PierreC Posted March 28, 2011 Author Report Posted March 28, 2011 With airport region it was not a real bid, meaning i bid 80 dollars so i knew they would turn it down. If not then it would have been a great deal !I keep this region for last...in case i cant get anything else. I got a feeling the Amsterdam Sheraton Schiphol (16-18) will extend my stay.If not then i will bid again including airport.
PierreC Posted March 29, 2011 Author Report Posted March 29, 2011 More tries tonight. bidding for 3 stars trying every region except airport and went up to 117 dollars.......and denied ! :) Man...it smells :) airport for the rest of my trip ! There is no way i will pay more than 120 for a 3 stars
thereuare Posted March 29, 2011 Report Posted March 29, 2011 I got a feeling the Amsterdam Sheraton Schiphol (16-18) will extend my stay.Hopefully... as rates for 4/14-4/16 are a little higher then rates for your previous win, 4/16-4/18.Good luck. PierreC Posted March 30, 2011 Author Report Posted March 30, 2011 Wow the ball game is getting harder. :) Tried again tonight and got turned down everywhere, 3 stars at 121 and 4 stars at 151, no aiport ( last week i got a counter-offer of 145 dollars..turned it down, big mistake !)Then after a good hesitation i tried to extend my stay (4 stars Sheraton Schiphol)...and got a counter-offer !...OF 167 DOLLARS !!! my original price was 110 dollars !With a long hesitation i turned it down! man, what the heck is going on in Amsterdam ? Its going to cost more than going to NY on easter week-end !For me the strategy is about to change and starting tomorrow the airport region will be add on all my bids.Wish me luck.

brianc_li Posted March 30, 2011 Report Posted March 30, 2011 man, what the heck is going on in Amsterdam ? Its going to cost more than going to NY on easter week-end !What is going on is that you are looking, at short notice, for a weekend in peak tulip season. There have been great deals around in the last couple of years due to the crisis and we even saw some early birds pick up central 4* hotels around the $75-80 mark for these weekends but that was months ago.The bottom line here is that Amsterdam, which is already an expensive city, if full and charging top dollar for such stays. My guess is that you'll hit a central 4* around the $160-170 mark.
PierreC Posted April 1, 2011 Author Report Posted April 1, 2011 This is the result or continuation of the april 14-16 thread.Just when i was about to give up and go to another city in the Netherlands i got accepted at the Holiday Inn Amsterdam South for 161 dollars.Knowing that i have received last week a counter-offer at 145 dollars for a 4 stars center Amsterdam i'm not to proud of my negociation. But Amsterdam and all Holland is very expensive this season so i guess i didnt have much choice.Still a good hotel...for twice the price of the Amsterdam NH centre from april 10-14 !
