Started bidding at $37, using multiple zones bid 39,41,43,45, and got it at 47.

Interestingly, at 45, it offered me an opportunity to rebid at $60 without adding a zone. I ignored that, added a (dummy) zone and got it at 47. That was the second time this evening I got that kind of message. So I take it that offer to jump your bid a lot and not add a zone is a sign you are just below the threshold. In these two instances I added $2 or $3 on the next bid and got it.

Since there is only 3.5* hotel in Novi, it is pretty easy to know what you are getting. The hotwire price was $61 and the hotel best price was $73.

Same thing goes with the 3.5* and 4* hotels in Southfield, where you know its the Marriott and Westin....

Congratulations on your success!

As i posted in your other PL WIN, the 'suggestion' by PRICELINE to increase your bid is a counter-offer and is usually indicative that you're getting close (although counter-offers aren't always given, so the lack of a counter-offer doesn't imply that you're still far away). The counter offer can usually be undercut as discussed in this Priceline Counter Offer thread.
