Hi All,

I would be travelling to NYC from May 4th to 7th and do not have a place to stay at so far.

Since I can bid on Priceline just once upto the check-in date, due to the 72 hour restriction, can you PLEASE indicate a price level, with which I might have a good chance of acceptance for a 3* hotel in Midtown East/Midtown West/Midtown South areas?

I would greatly appreciate your inputs.

Thanks a lot!:)

Welcome to BetterBidding!

As i'm sure you already know, rates are thru the roof for these dates... it will likely take in excess of $200 to be successful. Do you have any type of maximum bid in mind? Would you be willing to SPLIT YOUR STAY?

Let us know the above and we'll adise on how to best move forward.

Hi there,

Thanks for your quick response. I was looking to bid around $125-150..but seems like I might have to go for a 2$ for this price?

Yes, I would be willing to split the bid...maybe into May 4-6 and then May7th so that the weekend rates might not pull the price up. If you think differently, do let me know.

Awaiting your response.

Thanks, again!

Should that be 2* above?

The strange thing about NYC is that we often see very little price drop as you lower your star ratings (yes, there is often a lower price, but not by a tremendous amount) so i'm not so sure how successful you'll be at your price range even for a 2*. We can certainly suggest how to proceed if you'd like to try, but what about staying in Jersey City (NJ) and taking the PATH train into Manhattan? (about a 15 minute trip)

If going for a 2* you may want to also try EasyClickTravel so that you'll have a better idea of where you end up... 2* in NYC could work out ok, but it could also be a bit scary.

Let us know your thoughts and we'll try to help you find your best options.

Thanks a lot for your replies.

I did a bit of research and found Madison Hotel on Madison Ave. offering $94 for a double room, with breakfast and so, I snapped it up.

As a follow-up, I would also post a review of the condition of the hotel after my stay there.

Thanks:-)
