fdbryant3 Posted March 25, 2011 Report Posted March 25, 2011 This is my first here and traveling to Boston, I would appreciate any help with a bidding strategy. We need 2 rooms for 4 adults over 5/18-5/22. We want to stay under $130/per night per room (under $100 is our target). Would prefer to a 4* or above but can probably include 3*. Would like to stay downtown and have been advised to stay on the North side of the city. Can be flexible on location if we can meet the following criteria: safe, clean, comfortable and accessible to public transportation (ie within walking distance of the subway so we can avoid renting a car) and restaurants.Any help is and will be greatly appreciated. Thanks
thereuare Posted March 25, 2011 Report Posted March 25, 2011 Welcome to BetterBidding!Based upon current rates i'm doubtful you'll be successful for a 4* at $130 or less for this stay as rates are very high for these dates. Have you checked rates thru conventional booking channels... what is the best deal you're able to find at an acceptable hotel? If you want to give it a try anyway, let us know which zone(s), by PRICELINE name, you're willing to accept and we'll suggest a strategy for you to follow. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. fdbryant3 Posted March 25, 2011 Author Report Posted March 25, 2011 Well lets give it a shot including 3* hotels (if that seems more viable). As for zones I don't know anything about Boston but saw a recommendation for Quincy Market - Faneuil Hall, and Copley Square - Theatre District so lets go with those. Thanks
thereuare Posted March 25, 2011 Report Posted March 25, 2011 At the 3* level you have TWO re-bid zones. If you're not familiar with re-bidding please read Priceline Re-Bidding Explained and feel free to ask questions and/or confirm your re-bid zones with the board before proceeding.Select 3* Quincy Market - Faneuil Hall...Bid $80, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $90, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $95, if rejected close browser and use this link to re-access PRICELINESelect 3* Copley Square - Theatre District...Bid $80, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $90, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $95, if rejected close browser and use this link to re-access PRICELINESelect 3* Quincy Market - Faneuil Hall AND Copley Square - Theatre District...Bid $100, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $105, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $110While i don't think the above has too much of a chance, i would at least start here, and if rejected we'll revise to your $130 maximum bid. If that too is rejected we'll go over your options at that time.Any questions feel free to ask. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Good luck and let us know how it goes.
