Looking for a 5* hotel in Venice, Italy for 9/6/11 - 9/9/11. Of course we're taking our honeymoon during the Venice Film Festival so all the prices are jacked up a little bit.

The two 5* hotels listed in the Priceline Hotel List in Venice are currently listed at $349 per night (Boscolo Dei Dogi Hotel) and $385 per night (Hilton Molino Stucky Venice).

Was wondering what I should start my bidding at? I have a few months to actually book something so I can afford to start low and work my way up.

Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks!

EDIT:

Searching on Hotwire, the only hotel that comes back is a 4* "Venice Area Hotel" for $214/night. Amenities are Restaurant and High-Speed Internet Access. The Hilton Molino also comes back in the search for $423/night.

Welcome to BetterBidding and congratulations :)

Good that you're positive :)

With current rates and the festival taking place during your stay would i try to secure this fast. I don't belive in any last minute deals for your dates.

What would your max budgett/night be before tax/fee?

Let us know how we can help you further.

Thank you for the quick response and congratulations :)

Like most young couples we're fairly broke right now, but we'd really like to get a 5* hotel anyway. It's our honeymoon, if you won't go 5* now, when will you?

It stinks to see that people booked it in the past for low $100s, but it is what it is. Before taxes/fees I'd really like to keep it within the low to mid $200s range. Thoughts?

Congratulations on your upcoming wedding.

At the 5* level you have ONE re-bid zone. If you're not familiar with re-bidding please read Priceline Re-Bidding Explained and feel free to ask questions and/or confirm your re-bid zones with the board before proceeding.

Select 5* Venice...

Bid $140, if rejected add re-bid zone...

Bid $150

If the above is rejected i would bid every 24 hours:

$155/$160

$165/$170

etc

etc

$215/$220 (or whatever your limit is)

Any questions feel free to ask.

Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board each time you bid.

Good luck. Keep us updated and let us know how it goes.

I actually do have a question. I know you supposedly can only bid once every 24 hours with the same zone, star rating, and dates. However when I place a bid and it gets denied, I can click on the Priceline logo at the top of the page, it brings me back to the homepage, and then I can go through and bid for the same exact thing at a different price. Am I missing something?

It's not supposed to work that way, but every now and then you hear of users being able to place an additional bid (but it doesn't last very long as it's usually just a bug in the system)

Have you actually submitted the second round of bids and received a rejection... or are you looking at the 'review your bid' before you submit it page? (ie- have you entered your credit card info and clicked the "Buy My Hotel Room Now" button?)

Thanks for using the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board.

We're all booked. Ended up paying more than I had wanted but it seemed like I had no choice if I wanted to stick with 5*. Here's my bid history:

5* Venice only @170 - rejected

Added Mestre @180 - rejected

Venice only @190 - rejected

Added Mestre @200 - rejected

Venice only @210 - rejected

Added Mestre @220 - rejected

Venice only @230 - rejected

Added Mestre @240 - rejected

Venice only @250 - rejected

Added Mestre @260, was hit with a counteroffer to increase my bid to $310. I tried to bid $300 instead but was told I had to increase my bid by at least $50. So I bid $310 and ended up getting booked at Boscolo Dei Dogi Hotel. I would have preferred the Hilton, but beggars can't be choosers at this point I guess.

Total taxes paid was $120.21, bringing my grand total to $1050.21.

If an Admin would like to add this info to the topic:

Topic Title: 5*, Venice (Venice), Boscolo Dei Dogi Hotel

Topic Description: 9/6/11 - 9/9/11, $310

Thanks for all your help, definitely helped me navigate Priceline better. No on to try to book some airfare....
