kryswithak Posted March 23, 2011 Report Posted March 23, 2011 I am chancing it by buying my plane ticket first because of the good prices for New York City April 9-12. I have bid from $90-$113 so far for MTW, MTE, Soho, CPS, Times, UWS, Chelsea, and all free bid zones. I would like a 4* but am willing to do a 3.5* now. I would like to stay around $100 per night before taxes if possible. I am open to the location within the city. Any advice would be great. I used the PRICELINE link to make those bids.
thereuare Posted March 23, 2011 Report Posted March 23, 2011 To confirm...The above bidding was at the 4* level? If you're now dropping to 3.5* are you ok with some of hotels in the MTE zone which can be up to 15 minute walk to the subway? Are you ok with the very small rooms (even by NYC standards) at the Hudson Hotel in the CPS zone? Also, it doesn't appear you bid the Downtown zone above... are you willing to bid this zone at the 3.5* level? Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Let us know the above and we'll advise accordingly. kryswithak Posted March 23, 2011 Author Report Posted March 23, 2011 All of my previous bids were for 4*. I would like to get a room due to my flight being book so I am willing to do a 3.5* if it's close to $100 a night. I heard that the MTE 3.5* were far east so I'm not sure about this one. I would like to be close to the subway. I hope I answered your questions.
AaronJB Posted March 24, 2011 Report Posted March 24, 2011 Are you interested in the downtown zone? I think $100 for Midtown is unfortunately not going to be enough for a 3.5/4* for these dates.Thank you for using the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.
kryswithak Posted March 24, 2011 Author Report Posted March 24, 2011 I don't mind downtown. Where should I start my bid for a 3.5 and 4 star?
thereuare Posted March 24, 2011 Report Posted March 24, 2011 To confirm, the following zones are acceptable:CPSChelseaDowntownESBMSGMTWTSAt the 3.5* level you have FOUR re-bid zones. If you're not familiar with re-bidding please read Priceline Re-Bidding Explained and feel free to ask questions and/or confirm your re-bid zones with the board before proceeding.Select 3.5* CPS, Chelsea, DT, ESB, MSG, MTW...Bid $80, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $85, if rejected close browser and use this link to re-access PRICELINESelect 3.5* TS...Bid $80, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $85, if rejected close browser and use this link to re-access PRICELINESelect 3.5* CPS, Chelsea, DT, ESB, MSG, MTW, TS...Bid $90, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $95, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $100, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $105, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $110Any questions feel free to ask. I know you were looking to stay close to $100, but $110 would still be an excellent deal for these dates (imo) so i went up that high, and i think your next best option is slightly more than this. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Good luck and let us know how it goes. kryswithak Posted March 24, 2011 Author Report Posted March 24, 2011 Good Morning All,Thank you for your suggestions. I will try it at lunch time. For some reason I'm not able to access the link while at work. And yes the zones are correct.
kryswithak Posted March 24, 2011 Author Report Posted March 24, 2011 I receieved an accepted bid on the first try. I'm wondering if I should have bidded lower. I received Club Quarters Wall Street for $80 per night with a total of $299.10 with taxes. This is a pretty good deal considering the nightly rate is $205 through the hotel.
yellowdog Posted March 24, 2011 Report Posted March 24, 2011 kryswithakCongratulations on your success! We hope you're satisfied with the outcome and will like the hotel.Looks like a nice deal for you.Enjoy your stay.Yellowdog.Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.
