nimrod Posted March 23, 2011 Report Posted March 23, 2011 This was my first PRICELINE bid using the link. My only criteria is that it should be in the historic district.I tried adding different stars with every bid increasing the price but no go.$65 (4 star selected)$85 (4 and 3 star selected)$95 (4, 3 and 2.5 star selected)$100 - (All stars, still not accepted)This is for 2 rooms though. 04/09/2011 - 04/10/2011
thereuare Posted March 23, 2011 Report Posted March 23, 2011 Welcome to BetterBidding!Sorry to see your bids were not accepted, but your bidding strategy is a risky one as you could very easily overbid for a low rated hotel. You typically do not want to raise your bid and lower your star rating at the same time, as explained in this thread: If You Lower Your Star Rating then Lower Your Bid PriceRates are somewhat high for these dates, i'm not sure if there is something happening in town or simply the start of 'the season' in the area. What is the best rate you're able to find at an acceptable hotel for this nite? Thanks for using the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
nimrod Posted March 23, 2011 Author Report Posted March 23, 2011 Thanks for the tip. The best rate I found was $170 for a AAA rate with Country Inn & Suites.I was hoping to get a better deal since I need 2 rooms. Will try again tomorrow I guess. Thanks again.

thereuare Posted March 23, 2011 Report Posted March 23, 2011 Another option is the Hampton Inn for $149/nite if that works for your needs (NOTE: there are two Hampton Inn properties in this area... one is $200+ for your nite, the other is $149/nite... make sure you're aware of which location you're booking to ensure it will work for your needs)Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. (or our Hampton Inn link if you go that route) Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
Gallus50 Posted March 24, 2011 Report Posted March 24, 2011 There appear to be two options available on lastminutetravel.com. I ID'ed using Beav's method in Run of House section. Both are 3*. For $125, there's the Inn @ Ellis Square. For $129, there's the Best Western Plus/Central Historic Downtown. With rates being as high as they look, these might be worth considering. If you're going to keep bidding, check for free rebids, especially at the higher star levels. There's a link onsite that explains free rebids: Priceline Re-Bidding Explained
Gallus50 Posted March 24, 2011 Report Posted March 24, 2011 BTW - That's the Best Western Plus/Historic District. (The BW Central is in Midtown.)
