stevee Posted March 23, 2011 Report Posted March 23, 2011 Looking for a 5* Hotel in Venice Italy(7-April - 10-April) and I don't have a lot of time to put in very many bids. I have seen successful bids as low as $119, however when I looked on Hotwire for those dates, they list a 5* at $231. I probably have only 2 days that I will be able to bid so what would your bidding strategy be? If I am not successful, I will purchase on Hotwire.I am thinking I should start at $120 (just in case). Re-Bid at $180. Next day bid $200. Re-Bid at $210. Then buy Hotwire for $231.
thereuare Posted March 23, 2011 Report Posted March 23, 2011 I would probably bid:$120 ... re-bid at $14024 hours later$160 ... re-bid at $18024 hours later$200 ... re-bid at $220if rejected take the HOTWIRE offerOf course the risk is that the HOTWIRE offer disappears in the next 2 days while you bid above, but $120 --> $180 is a fairly sizable jump. So whether you follow the above or your original plan depends upon your risk tolerance as well as what your options are should the HOTWIRE offer disappear while you're trying to bid on PRICELINE for a lower price. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Let us know how it goes or if we can be of further help. Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
